I've compiled
what was I believe to be some of the best material written and recorded
by the VPs. The CD-R is disappointingly short,(some of the more critical
types have found it agonizingly long) especially when considering
that before he died in 1984, Mike Brock, a/k/a/ Mike or 'Mite' Vomit,
had written literally hundreds of songs and poems. Unfortunately,
most of Mike's ouevre appears to be lost The discerning
listener will note that the recording quailty is not exactly pristine
in some places, frankly it plain sucks in places, but consider that
some of the source material was extracted from 22-year-old Radio Shack
dictation-quality cassettes recorded in a cow pasture in the wilds
of East Texas by intoxicated rednecks. On the bright(er)
side, some of the material on the CD-R was taken from studio tracks
the VPs recorded in a Sam Walton 8-track studio in Texarkana. Other
studio tracks were recorded at Brice's Deep Ellum 8-track studio (before
Deep Ellum was cool) with James Flory at the controls. Thanks Erin
for the photos! These
are the real, original Vomit Pigs. There was another
band that had the unmitigated gall to call themselves the Vomit Pigs
AFTER Mike had made a name with the Vomit Pigs.
