History:

Christian Weatherman was born about 1746 and is believed to be the Immigrant to America. Although there has been three other Weathermans identified in the 1790 New York census, all current research points back to Christian. Christian is believed to be of German decent from Wurtemburg, Stuttard County, Germany. There is not a lot of information about his early years and he has not been found on a ship passenger list. Spelling variations include Wetterman, Wetherman, Weitherman, and Weathermon. There has been some discussion that the original spelling is Vetterman, but this was strongly disputed by Vetterman researchers.

Apparently Christian first lived in Pennsylvania, but settled in Surry County, North Carolina. He amassed a large orchard farm and lived there until his death in 1802. In his will, he split his farm between his wife, and children and shortly afterward branches of the family started migrating to different areas west. His descendants fought on both sides during the Civil War, are responsible for the naming of Weatherman Mountain (Jucca's Bald) in North Carolina, Weatherman Pass in Montana, and the Weatherman School in Southern Missouri.

Purpose:

This page is intended to provide a location for Weatherman descendants and researchers to come together and reunite the distant branches. Please do not be offended if you find incorrect information, remember Genealogy is not an exact science. What is posted has been compiled from multiple sources and we welcome corrections to the database.

Also within these pages the surname is only spelled WEATHERMAN, this allows us a non-confusing vehicle to link unknown branches in to the family tree, no disrespect is intended or implied.
