An alternate Pledge of Allegiance

I am proud to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses for the past 24 years.

Raising children as Witnesses can be a challenge. Witnesses pledge allegiance to none other than Jehovah God, so Witness children refrain from participating in the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. During the pledge, they remain in the classroom and stand at attention, out of respect for the flag that represents the country of our residence, but they do not recite the pledge. Some Witness children have been concerned that, as the other children recite the pledge, the words are passing through their thoughts. To overcome this discomfort, a friend and I created a short passage that Witness children may recite in their mind during the U.S. pledge.

We hope no one takes offense at this, Witness or otherwise, as it is meant for personal, private, and silent use.

I pledge allegiance to Jehovah and his son Christ Jesus;
To the Kingdom, which will bring peace to all the earth;
One government, for all people, with no more sickness or death;
Where everyone can live forever.
