Instead of a solid background color, you can use a picture or texture that tiles over the browser window. All images are separate files, and must be saved into your "My Webpages" folder to be properly used by Netscape Composer. Here are some samples you can save into your folder for this lesson.
Sample background 1 Sample background 2 Sample background 3

(Place cursor over image, right click, highlight Save Image As and left-click.
When window opens, save into My Webpages folder.)

  1. The Background Image field is near the bottom;
  2. click the Choose File button.
  3. In window, find My Webpages folder. Open it.
  4. Choose and highlight filename of image. Click Open.
  5. Filename appears in Background Image field, and above it the background is displayed behind the text so you can see if your text will show up against the background.  a
  6. If you like it click OK. The new background is displayed.
    If you don't like it, click Choose file, go back and pick another.
  7. If you want to return to a solid color, remove the filename from the Background Image field and click OK.

Under the Format menu is also Page Title and Properties.
  • In the Title field you can change Title of the page.
  • Type your name in the Author field.
  • It isn't displayed in the browser, but is displayed on the actual HTML page. (See HTML link)

Be sure to click the Save button on the toolbar when finished making changes to Page Colors or Title.

Now let's put some more pictures on our webpage.
