Although the final verdict of the medical safety of vasectomy is not in yet, suspicions are rising that the long term effects on the immunological system will reveal that a vasectomy can cause serious health problems.Dr. Roberts' analysis of his own patients found a high correlation between systemic diseases and men with fairly recent vasectomies. He noted sudden occurrences of thrombophlebitis, pulmonary embolism, lymph node enlargements, joint inflammation severe narcolepsy{uncontrollable sleeping}hypoglycemia, diabetes mellitus, hormonal imbalances, liver dysfunction, skin eruption inflammation of the heart lining, inflamed prostate glads, pulmonary fibrosis, allergic disorfers, acute multiple sclerosis, and altered blood coagulation. According to Roberts,"Their patterns of response suggest a cause- and effect relation between vasectomy and various disorders, especially in light of the fact that the majority had enjoyed good health before surgery"}.
The New Bodies Ourselves
Male Sterilzation -Vasectomy
In some men, antibodies to their own sperm can be found after a vasectomy. Some research suggests that these antibodies may lead to certain disease of the immune system. Men who have a vasectomy may have increase risk of prostate cancer.Experimental operation have placed plastic plugs or injectable chemmical into the tube to plug it up temporarily so that if the men later wants to have a child he can have it taken out.
Because of the frequency of chronic pain syndromes following vasectomy, concern regarding the long-term complications of this procedure has revived. A vasectomy involves cutting and tying the cord(the vas deferens) that carries the sperm. There are several procedures used to carry out a vasectomy. These involve either cutting and tying, electrocautery(buring with an electrical current),or both. After the surgery , a blow out may occur if the severed cord swells and reopens under pressure from the sperm. Cutting the cord which carries sperm has an obvious danger. The sperm, which must go some where, may leak into the body cavities. The body will react to the out-of-place sperm with an immune response, thus opening the door for many complication. After a vasectomy, sperm production remains the same:about 50,000 spermatozoa each minute. Having "no way out"these cells are either consumed by the body's degenerate producing antigens or "foreign substances" These antigens infiltrate the bloodstream and cause the body to manufacture antibodies to defend itself against them.
Physical Disorders
The disorders that are now being linked with auto-immune reaction after vasectomy include unexplained thrombophlebitis, prolonged fever generalized lymph node enlargment, recurrent infection, skin eruption, multiple sclerosis, liver dysfunction, and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition to these health problems, several studies have revealed a statistically significant association between the risk of prostate cancer and a history of vasectomy. The risk of prostate cancer in men who have had a vasectomy is more than that three times that of those who were not vasectomiezed.

Abstract
PURPOSE: the post-vasectomy pain syndrome is a rare but troublesome complication of vasectomy. We reported our experience with 32 patients who under went vasectomy reversal for relief of the post-vasectomy pain synodrome. The record of 32 patients undergoing vasovasostomy or epididymovasostomy for the post-vasectomy,were evaluated for characteristics of symptoms, previous theraphy, interval from vasectomy, suecess of surgery and duration of relief.
RESULTS: Of the 32 men who under went vasectomy reversal for the post-vasectomy pain syndrome between 1980 and 1994, 24 had relief of symptoms after the initial procedure. Of 8 men with recurrent pain 6 underwent a second reversal procedure, and 3 of them subsequently had relief of symptoms. Overall, 27 of 32 men had resolution of pain.
CONCLUSIONS; In our experience vasectomy reversal has a high rate
of success for relief of the post-vasectomy pain syndrome

DOCTOR DISAGREES ON STERILIZATION
Jim Brown, FPO Seattle, Washington
I am a surgeon, and previously did vasectomies and tubal ligations as a routine part of my practice. I never felt good about doing either procedure, but was never able to work through why. It was not like taking out a bad appendix or a life-threatening malignancy. But I believed that responsible people had the right to make these choices for themselves, and I felt an obligation as a physician to meet their expectations in this regard. I was bothered by the number of people I saw who regretted being sterilized. After reading The Way Home, I stopped doing sterilization procedures except in very rare occasions, and began to tell my patients why. It has led to some very rich and meaningful discussions, and a change of heart in several patients. I have also bourn the indignant wrath of those who felt I was infringing on their rights to be sterilized. I cannot relate to you the deep relief I have felt by resolving not to yield to the pressure to participate in sterilization procedures.
Since reading The Way Home I have performed two vasectomies on the husbands
of women with medical conditions in which
pregnancy literally threatened their lives. One was a 30 year old mother
of two with an end-stage cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. The
other was a 28 year old mother of five who had recurrent deep vein thromboses
associated with pregnancy and a pulmonary embolism after delivery from
which she almost died. I believe there is a place for sterilization procedures,
but it is extremely rare. In these cases my motivation in agreeing to perform
the surgery was the preservation of life rather than preventing it.
HOW A VASECTOMY CAUSES THE BODY TO FIGHT AGAINST ITSELF
After a vasectomy, sperm production remains the same: about 50,000 spermatozoa
each minute. Having "no way out," these cells, are either consumed by the
body's destroyer cells, or they leak or degenerate, producing antigens
or " foreign substances." These antigens infiltrate the bloodstream and
cause the body to manufacture antibodies to defend itself against them.
This sequence produces an "autoimmune" response, causing the body to become
allergic to its own tissue. These "antisperm
auto-antibodies" have been found in 55 percent to 75 percent of vacectomy
patients within two years after the surgery. Some doctors suspect that
a whole series of long-term systemic disorders may be caused by vasectomies.
Their bases for this belief is that the only common denominator in the
men who were studied was a previous vasectomy.
< PHYSICAL DISORDERS >
The disorders that are now being linked with the auto-immune reaction
after vasectomy include unexplained thrombophlebitis, prolonged fever,
generalized lymph node enlargement, recurrent infection, skin eruptions,
multiple sclerosis, liver dysfunction, and rheumatoid arthritis. In addition
to these health problems, several studies have revealed a statistically
significant association
between the risk of prostate cancer and the history of vasectomy. The
risk of prostate cancer in men who have had a vasectomy is more than three
times that of those who were not vasectomized. Men who have had vasectomies
more than 20 years ago might have an 85 percent to 90 percent higher risk
of developing prostate cancer than men who have not had a vasectomy. The
earlier the age that a man had a vasectomy, the greater the risk he has
of developing prostate cancer.
>PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDERS >
Psychological disturbances may occur immediately or many years after
vasectomy. One study which tested patients before and one year after surgery
indicated that over 40 percent of vasectomized men experienced personality
problems as a result of the vasectomy. These psychological consequences
may include the following, feeling of "stripped masculinity," marital
difficulties, attitude of rejecting children, and envy of other people's
children and the ability to have them.

To the momy who was wanting info on vasectomy risks...I have pasted some of what I found followed by its source. To find these in the search engine (yahoo), I typed in: "vasectomy risks christ" without the quotes. I had previously typed just the first two words, but was getting only doctors, clinics, groups, etc. who either perform or advocate sterilization so naturally, they reported no risks. Adding any other words to the first two like, "quiver" "jesus" "immune system" or perhaps, "not told" might well render even more honest results.. Hope this helps.
It is a surgical procedure that involves the doctor cutting out a portion
of both ducts by which the sperm pass from the
testes. He will then tie or coagulate the ends, suturing the cut made
in the scrotum in order to perform the surgery. What are the health risks
of male sterilization? While there are no final verdicts as of yet, there
are many questions arising as to the long
term risks involved. One of the major risks involved for the man is
to his immune system. There is not enough space in this booklet to explain
in great detail what that means. However, in short, it involves the production
in the man's body of anti-sperm
auto-antibodies. This means that his body is destroying cells of it's
own making, making his body allergic to itself. Some auto-immune diseases
associated with this are diabetes mellitus, Addison's disease, multiple
sclerosis, some forms of hepatitis,
and rheumatoid arthritis. A healthy immune system is a must in our
bodies daily fight against the threats of cancer. Thus, if a man's immune
system is not in proper working order, there is a greater risk of cancers
such as prostrate and testicular, and possibly other forms.
Now, I bet your doctor never mentioned these side-effects to you did he? You see, he doesn't really care about you and your health the way that God does! Even though we think we know so much, we still can never know all that God does. If being pregnant, or bearing another child, will not be good for you (or, if you're a man, for your wife), then I believe that God can take care of that if you have faith in and trust Him. But your doctor will not share with you the many lasting effects of surgical birth control methods because he does not care about you. Unless he is a bible-believing Christian, you can bet that he will counsel you by the world's standards.
What is wrong with this method: Aside from the side-effects caused from altering our bodies from their God-given functions, what is truly wrong with these procedures is that permanent damage is purposely done to our bodies! Bodies that rightfully do not belong to us, but to God. Surgical methods of birth control should always be considered permanent. Even though reversals can be performed, they are very, very costly (up to 5 times the cost of having the surgery done in the first place), and the results are not guaranteed, especially if it has been more than 5 years since the surgery. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit of God, and great care should be taken that we should not cause harm to come to them due to our selfish desires.

* We were not informed of the possible complications including loss
of ability to enjoy sex up to 50 percent and danger of
prostate cancer (up to 90 percent greater risk with a vasectomy)
* The men operated on were done `on an assembly line'. We were rushed
to sign a paper with lots of fine print then my
husband was stripped and the anesthetic delivered.
* The Planned Parenthood doctor did not wait for the anesthetic to take
effect and operated only 10 minutes after giving my
husband the shot. (Anesthetic takes 20 minutes to take effect)
* I can still hear my husband's screams of pain as they cut him with
NO anesthetic.

This site is pro-vasectomy, but it does give an honest explanation
about immune systems being effected by the
procedure. Go to "Immune Reactions to Sperm." It also gives a detailed
description of how the procedure is
done.
