Why is this man smiling?
Because Al Miyatake ('66) attended this year's Zama reunion as a participant,
not an organizer!
July 8, 2002 --- It's late, I'm tired out, but by golly, I'm going to put some photos up for my friends to check out! To my friends who couldn't make it to this reunion: Dang, we missed you! We had a really good time! I'm going to throw up just a few photos and commentary for tonight, and I'll have more tomorrow. My big bro took advantage of the high-speed internet connections available at the hotel and posted photos from the reunion while we were still there. What a geek. Anyway, they're posted at http://community.webshots.com/album/42205215GbnMsM.
Mariko Miyatake and Ed Cannell ('61)
Kevin Kobayashi ('84)
Becki Burlas Shannon ('84) and John Bishop ('82) yuk it up at the hotel bar
on Day 1.
Sheila Brown, George Stilwell ('86), Dan Brown ('62).
You are probably going to see a lot of photos like this. I tend to hold the
camera out at arm's length and snap my own photos of me and my friends. Becki
and I are enjoying one of the artifacts I brought with me to the reunion,
our 8th grade yearbook.
A bunch of us opted to go to Dick's Last Resort on the Riverwalk during the
Rio Rio party. That's Susan Honeycutt (Mike's wife), Cherie Cole Harvey ('84),
and her husband Kyle.
Becki's younger kid, Holt, and older kid, Kasey.
Wayne ('83) and Cherie Cole.
George Stilwell and Robert Myslinski's new bride, Shirley.
Mike Honeycutt ('80) and some dude that crashed the party.
July 9, 2002 --- OK, got some more photos! Check 'em out!
Susan Honeycutt
Stephen Stillwell (85) listens as brother George (86) explains how well suited
butcher paper is for origami.

After we left Dick's, we returned to the hotel and loitered around the hotel bar again until they kicked us out. Several of the Rio Rio party folks who didn't sustain excessive damage joined us.
Next day (Friday), folks split off into different groups to do this and that. Due to the crappy weather (excessive rain in July? very weird) and timely 500-year floods, the Ranch party had to be cancelled. Instead, we had a party at the hotel:
Clara took this photo for me. Kevin Kobayashi ('84), Shannon Wolfe (Mike's
wife), Mike Wolfe ('84), Paul Lautenshlager ('85), Florence (Ohori) Lautenshlager
('85), Rob Bishop.
After chowing down: Cherie (Cole) Harvey, Kevin Kobayashi, John Bishop, Turtle
Myslinski, Mrs. Turtle, Becki (Burlas) Shannon, Pat Shannon.
Mike Honeycutt teaches his daughter Sara some of the fine points of pool he
learned in the old days at the Teen Club...
...while Clara Bishop waits her turn to show some similar Teen Club-honed
skills her daddy taught her.
Yet another of those shots with my face disturbingly close to the camera.
Me, Shannon Wolfe, Mike Wolfe, Beth Bishop, Maggie Bishop.
Maggie and Mike hit it off.
I'm gettin' tired of looking at me too. Rob Bishop, Maggie Bishop, Jordan
(Dan's granddaughter) and Dan Brown.
Clara and Daddy decide to get things started on the the dance floor with some
two-steppin'.
Meanwhile, Maggie Bishop dances her own way.
The line dancing instruction begins!
Step, turn, kick...
Becki and Pat Shannon show exemplary turning skill while Lyle Bishop ('60)
executes a picture-perfect kick.
Peter Guthrie ('77)
Mariko and Al Miyatake (looks like Roberta Stott and Mike Wynkoop in the background)
Maggie Bishop enjoys a dance with Uncle John.
Then, all heck breaks loose as everyone gets their big chance to show off
their line dancing skills without the security of a nearby instructor. The
party is really starting to swing now.
At the time I took this photo, I didn't know what Mike Wynkoop ('77) was showing
me. "Yeah, nice pecs, Wynkoop!" I said. Now I know.
Well, needless to say, once them Zama kids got warmed up, they were partyin'
like old times.
