Millstadt Enterprise & Enterprise Journal:
The Millstadt Enterprise is a weekly newspaper that began publication in May
1897. The name changed to the Millstadt Enterprise Journal on October 4,
1989. All of the obituaries and marriages from this paper have been indexed
from 1897 to the present by Robert Buecher and inquiries may be made to him
at the address above. All existing issues of the newspaper from May 1897
have been microfilmed and copies are available for research at the Illinois State
Historical Library, Old State Capitol, Springfield, IL 62706. The Belleville
Public Library, 121 E. Washington, Belleville, IL 62220, also has microfilm
copies of most years. Mr. Buecher has compiled

and

MILLSTADT NEWS ITEMS:
The Millstadt news column that was published in the Belleville Weekly
Advocate has been transcribed for the years 1880-1892. Each transcribed
volume covers several years and each contains an alphabetical name/subject
index. These transcribed copies can be found at the following libraries:
Millstadt Library, Belleville Public Library, Illinois State Historical
Library at Springfield, St. Louis Genealogical Society Library, St. Louis
County Library, Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Ind., and the
Family History Library at Salt Lake City, Utah. The transcribed volumes for
1880-1887 have been microfilmed by the Family History Library in Salt Lake
City and are found on microfilm roll # 1698085, item 10.
DATABASE OF FOREIGN-BORN MILLSTADT AREA RESIDENTS:
Robert Buecher is currently compiling a database of foreign-born Millstadt
area residents. Included are foreign-born settlers who resided in Millstadt
Township (including the village of Millstadt), Stookey Twp., and part of
Sugar Loaf Twp. The information comes from his 30+ years of genealogical
research in Millstadt area church records, cemetery records, and newspapers.
Information found in each entry varies but usually includes birthdate,
birthplace, and other biographical information. There are currently over
1400 entries but eventually there may be as many as 2000 entries. Mr. Buecher
will be pleased to share his information with other Millstadt area researchers.
