Friday, November 16, 7-9 p.m.
Beaujolais Nouveau Wine Tasting. Prairie Village Community Center, 7700
Mission Rd., Prairie Village, KS. Members are asked to bring their own
bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau and some cheese, paté, or charcuterie.
Beaujolais Nouveau is typically available in mid-November, only a day or
two before our tasting, so if you can’t find it in your wine store, bring
the most recent Beaujolais available. Both French and English will be spoken.
Everyone is invited. Don’t miss this chance to meet other Alliance members!
Parking is available in the circle drive behind the building.
Sunday, December 9, 2-4 p.m.
Fête de Noel Rockhill Tennis Club, 4520 Kenwood, Kansas City, MO,
in the upstairs lounge. The Alliance’s annual celebration will include
punch, several bûches de Noêl, and French carols Because the
Alliance is providing the food and drinks, there will be a charge and you
will need to reserve for this event. Watch your mail; invitations will
be mailed about December 1. This was a major event last year, so don’t
miss it this holiday season!
Saturday, January 12, 2002, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Fête at the home of member Liliane Rosenshield who has graciously
offered her home as the location for our first social event of the new
year. Members are asked to bring a bottle of white wine (no red, please,
since a spill will ruin the white carpet) and a French hors d’oeuvre of
some sort. Mine Rosenshield’s address is 5116 Sunset Drive, Kansas City,
Mo. As you come to 55th St. on Ward Parkway, turn east on 55th; go just
a few yards and turn left onto Sunset Drive, following it until you arrive
at 51 16,which is on the left side of the road. Park on the street. Call
the AFKC the week before to r.s.v.p.
Tuesday, January 24, 2002, 7-9 p.m.
Le Jeu de l’amour et du hasard: Presentation by Dr. Gayle Levy on Marivaux’s
play, and dramatic reading by Alliance members. Rockhill Tennis Club, Gold
Room, 4520 Kenwood, Kansas City, MO. Calling all would-be and aspiring
actors and actresses! After Dr. Levy’s short talk about the play and its
author, read aloud the role of Orgon, Mario, Silvia, or another character.
Have any appropriate props or ‘costume? Bring them with you. If you did
