What is a DVD?  It's an all new digital video format (resembling a audio CD disk - same size) introduced in April, 1997.  The advantages:  Twice the video quality of VHS, movie theater audio quality, won't wear out, small storage requirements, low purchase prices ($15-$20).  You can also rent them at your local video store.  Entry level DVD players are available everywhere starting at $75.  With your DVD player, you don't need your audio CD player - it plays them too.  In computers, DVD drives are replacing CD-ROM drives.  Yes, that means you can play a DVD movie on your PC or even a laptop computer.

Buying DVD movies?  The best place to buy (in town or on the internet)?  Sometimes, in town is the cheapest, but on the internet, you can shop 24 hours a day, find out more information about the movies you want and are usually $5 off (or more) of your local store price,  NO sales tax, and low shipping charges bringing the movie to your mailbox in two to three days.  I have used most DVD internet stores (ask me): DIVX advice?  As of 6/16/1999 the only place you'll find it is in a museum (right next to BetaMax players)
