Is Landmark Forum a cult?
Does it use group hypnosis, mind control, or brainwashing techniques?
Not so, says the LEC brochures that graduates hand out when asked this
question. Two Forum graduates with Ph. D.'s write testimonials that deny
allegations that the Forum has cultish aspects to it. From an Official
LEC press release packet provided by a Forum Graduate
Lowell D. Streiker, Ph.D. discusses the Forum.
He says "The Forum is not a cult in any sense of the word, religious or
otherwise." He was a consultant hired by WE&A to evaluate est and make
recommendations. He later actually did the Forum.
Raymond Fowler, Ph. D, Psychologist, gives his
personal views and observations.
Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Psychological
Association, and Professor Emeritus, at the University of Alabama. He says,
" I would like to observe that The Forum experience in no way resembles
any of the so-called cults I've readabout." He and
his wife both went through the Forum.

According to New cAn, cults are a hoax.

"The problem with the word "cult" is not that cults don't exist, nor that
they should be left alone. The problem with the term, and with others like
"brainwashing" and "mind control," is that they are too easy to use. Larger
issues get lost when convenient labels are attached to complex phenomena,
and sometimes the larger issue is more important than what the label attempts
to describe."
