To all in interested parties:

"Painfully Revealing - Powerfully Enabling" is the way I have described my experiences with the various programs of Landmark Education. I was a priest for 35 years, having successfully pastores every type of parish when I did my first program. At the time I was a white pastor of a totally black congregation, in a totally black community -- the worst ghetto in New Orleans -- and I was stuck. Nothing that worked before for me as a pastor worked now. As a result of the weekend course, I found my self free to be with the situation, painful as it might be at first, open to possibilities and directions for action that enabled me to move in ways I had never dreamt of. Although the course had nothing to do with religion, for me, it had everything to do with faith -- with a way of being in life that enabled me to be fully present to whatever situation in which I found myself. On the other side of the weekend I experienced new insights into scripture and prayer. I found myself preaching and counseling more effectively, not to mention more productively in every other way I ministered.

That's why I haven't hesitated to enroll Bishops, priests, religious and laity. Their experiences have paralleled and confirmed mine. I would recommend these courses to anyone interested in spiritual development. They have been a powerful source of that for me. That's what I mean when I say they were "painfully revealing --- powerfully enabling" --- although as time goes on I am inclined to describe them as "happily revealing." Maybe that comes when you reach seventy! My only regret is that I wasn't introduced to the programs of Landmark Education at twenty.
