I tried extending the size of the fins by adding strips of basla connecting the fin tips in a triangular shape. This moved the center of pressure down, but the centers of the balsa pieces were too close to the motor exhaust and were burned by it. I subsequently removed the balsa fin extensions.
I modified the nosecone so that I can add weight to it. Originally, I friction fitted the nosecone to the upper body tube. However, because of the thin walls of the Estes body tubes, the weighted nosecone was force down into the body tube by the acceleration during launch. I had to remove about one-half inch from the upper body tube because it had been widen by the nosecone. I now use screws to securely attach the nosecone.
I have built two more booster sections in addition to the original 24mm booster. One has a 29mm motor mount and the other has dual 24mm motor mounts. The dual 24mm booster also has larger fins to reduce the amount of nose weight required.
