Room With A View

The four of us (Delilah, Delayna, Daniel, and I) rode the overnight train from Nairobi to Mombasa. Before arriving in Mombasa, we had a nice breakfast (except for the coffee and mango juice being sloshed all over the table cloth). But hey, it was an adventure and we were loving every minute of it.

The hotel we stayed in was exceptionally nice. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and the rooms were air conditioned (it's hot and humid in Mombasa). After checking in to our rooms, we went down to the Zig-Zag bar to have lunch. Still weary from the train ride, as sleeping on a rocking train is not easy, we decided to take a nap. We awoke in time for a large buffet dinner by the pool. A Kenyan choir serenaded us with Christmas carols while we dined.

NOTE: We just found out that the Club Lagoon Reef Hotel is now an ALL INCLUSIVE resort. All food, drinks (alcoholic too), and non-motorized water sports are included in the daily price. We were very excited when we heard this news.
The hotel also now has a kiddies club where there are 2 trained nannies with toys etc to look after kids and an activity programme for children too. This during the day time is at no extra cost. (1/10/98)
