The seats were made in one long piece out of a very wide piece of mahagony.  (Wide long mahogany boards are getting harder to find. I was lucky to find a supplier who still had some nice boards for my coamings and seats.)  After setting the level and position of the center seat support and permanently installing the support, I then drilled the peg hole and cut the seat across the center of the hole. 

The boom, jib, and gaff spars are visible laying in the cockpit. The centerboard cap is just sitting there on the trunk awaiting installation of the keel/centerboard. Below, a good fit is evident in the seat detail.
