| Does the idea of "Satan" make sense? | |
| It depends on the definition. If "Satan" is seen as an entity in his/her/its own right, battling God for the souls of men, the idea makes no sense at all. If God is omnipresent and all-encompassing, there can be nothing "outside" of God or standing in opposition to Him/Her. Otherwise, we have two "gods," each with his/her own "kingdom" -- "Heaven" and "Hell." | |
| However, a cyber friend of mine, John Logan, recently posed a concept which makes perfect sense. "Satan," "evil spirits," etc. are parasitic beings which we create from, and who thereafter feed upon, our hatreds and fears. They can only exist as long as we allow them to exist. The "antidote" to the evil we create is the unconditional Love of God. Many of us are really afraid of Love, so we cling to our demons. But when we let Love in, the demons don't just depart, they die!! | |
