Armageddon? |
|
| I've been having a string of weird thoughts. | |
| We're all acquainted with Christian fundamentalists' "end-times" and "rapture" theology. There's the idea of a global battle between good and evil. The end of the world. Armageddon. | |
| Over the last several months I've been impressed by the fact that our awareness of good and evil on a global scale has been so much increased via media coverage. I've been repelled by the widespread expressions of hatred by extremist groups, and their increasing power to affect lives world-wide. And I've been heartened by what seems to be a coming together of the community of nations in opposition to genocide and in defense of life and liberty. Slow & halting as it might be, a Pinochet is arrested, action is taken in Kosovo, world courts try tyrants for crimes against humanity. The "battle" that once was parochial and ill-defined does seem to be taking shape on an all-encompassing level. | |
| The Mayan calendar has signaled the end of an age. Is a Jungian archetype manifesting itself here as real? If so, what archetype portends the outcome? | |
