Christmas thoughts -

He was born of a virgin on or around December 25. Three wise men, as well as shepherds, announced and celebrated his birth. He went about the countryside, often in the company of 12 disciples, preaching, teaching, healing and casting out devils. He had a Last Supper with his disciples, after which he suffered a sacrificial death, rose again in three days (around the time of the Spring equinox), and ascended to the Father God.
His followers celebrate his life, death and resurrection with a symbolic meal of bread and wine signifying his body and blood.
Called "King of Kings" and "Lord of Lords," he is seen as he who "made men and women be born again."
What is his name?
Many say it is Jesus. But hundreds of years before Christianity came along, others called him Attis, or Dionysus, Osiris, or Mithras, et al.
It's difficult to deny that Christianity simply copied most or all of its beliefs from the pagan religions in the midst of which it was established. It's also difficult to overlook the serious doubt as to whether "Jesus" actually ever existed in the 1st century B.C.E.
Assuming all the above to be the case, what is the alternative for those who believe in and want to worship God?
