Welcome to the BSARC Activity information page.
Our Club is actively engaged in supporting the communities that we draw upon for membership.  All activities are supported voluntarily by interested members.
Quite miraculously, all of our events are well attended even though we call ourselves a 'loosely knit' group.

Current activities of BSARC Members

Each September, we participate in both the Santa-Cali-Gon Days and the Blue Springs Fall Festival.  Our members perform a Lost Child Patrol service to help reunite separated parents and their young children.  Everyone wins in this event:  the parents, children, police and not the least, our members.  It is a great feeling to help reunite a lost, crying child with their parent.

Another of our main activities is to support the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District and the Blue Springs Police Department during periods of threatening weather.  We put ourselves on standby for call-out by these groups.  We have pre-organized ourselves so that we go to designated storm watch locations and provide police central dispatch personnel with vital information concerning the safety of Blue Springs and adjacent areas.  In support of this activity, we periodically attend Storm Watch training provided by the National Weather Service.  Normally, training meeting are held at the Blue Springs Police building in February or March.

Our Club has an Emergency Coordinator.  We'd like to have you participate in this critical function.

We also participate in the ARRL Field Day in June.  Our purpose is to exercise our equipment and to show that we can, indeed, set up quickly and establish communications with other ham sites.  We also like to provide a public setting that non-hams can visit to become acquainted with amateur radio.

We are an ARRL Affiliated club and encourage our members to support the ARRL efforts on behalf of all amateur radio operators.
