Arisa (name written in Hiragana) is a 14 year old student who gets picked on a lot. A normal day for her is to get picked on by a group of girls, bullied into going to the store for them during lunch break, and using her own money to buy the treats. As we find out more about Arisa, however, we come to find out that she wasn't always such a weakling. 5 years before, Arisa had an accident and was accidentally pushed down some stairs by her older brother. Arisa has no memory of herself before this time.
Back then, before the accident, Arisa (name written in Katakana) used to be a terrible bully, terrorizing students and teachers alike, giving them pet names and calling them My Servant and a number designation. This Arisa was self assured, powerful, talented, almost the exact opposite of the present day Arisa.
Akina Yashiro (Crybaby Akina-chan, My Servant # 764)
Traumatized as a young child by Katakana Arisa, Akina swore to himself he would someday have his revenge. When he received a letter informing him of Arisa Kawai's current location, he bid goodbye to his home and moved to where he could enact his revenge.
Yet when he arrives at the school, he finds out that Arisa no longer seems to be the same person he knew. She doesn't even recognize or remember him. That is until the day she gets picked on by the usual bullies but she almost falls down the stairs. In an amazing recovery, Arisa flips outs of danger and then proceeds to pulverize her tormentors. This new, transformed Arisa remembers him quite well and seems quite pleased to have her servant #764 back again.
Before things escalate too far, however, Akina's cute little dog, Totomaru, jumps on her and snaps her personality back to the more meek Arisa. Hiragana Arisa has no memory of what has just transpired.
Still, stoked up now that he has found his opponent, Akina vows to take his revenge. Luckily for Arisa, Akina's revenge is not to hurt her, but to prove he is better than her at everything.
He starts having problems though as he keeps finding himself saving Hiragana Arisa from trouble, and slowly starts to fall for her, even as he is aware that the other Arisa still lies within her.
Yuuki Inogami
Inogami has been on Hiragana Arisa's side since the two met at school. Easy going and sweet, he appears to be everything Hiragana Arisa wants in the Prince she hopes will one day appear and save her from everything. Once Katakana Arisa appears, Hiragana Arisa is afraid that she has lost her most valued friend, when after Katakana Arisa steals a kiss from Akina and then gets changed back by Totomaru, Inogami turns his back on her and walks away.
Story Summary
This is a very funny and delightful manga that shows that no matter how you behave on the outside, it may actually have nothing to do with what is in the inside. And Akina is not the only one to get a mysterious letter letting him know where Katakana Arisa is. Arisa accumulated many enemies during her tyrannical career and they are all being sent similar letters. Can Arisa survive all those vent on taking their revenge on her? Was the fall the true reason Arisa lost her memory, or could there be more to the story? Why is Arisa's brother so infatuated with dogs?
