Summaries for F Compo Day 102
Masahiko, Kaoru, and her father rush through the airport trying to get Masahiko to his flight. Kaoru and his father are arguing loudly, Masahiko trying to get them to stop. They make it to the counter to find out the flight left an hour before. Kaoru’s father blames it on Kaoru for stopping to get something to drink, Kaoru insists she only did it to cheer up Masahiko. They go on as Masahiko once more tries to get them to stop. Then a voice from behind them says something about having been wondering where they had all been. Masahiko turns around and sees it's Shion. She tells them she stayed behind and booked the two of them a later flight. Kaoru mouths off about saying things turned out just fine anyway and gets bopped by her father for it.
On the plane, Shion asks "Well…? What did you go to Okutama to do?" She asks again, this time turning away from the plane’s window and finds that Masahiko is asleep. She at first looks surprised, then smiles thinking to herself how he looks like a sleeping Tanuki (Raccoon dog) (I believe this is complimentary.)
When they get to their destination, Shion tells them they still have to take a train, but they should have enough time to get something to eat. What would he like? Masahiko has stopped and then looks up and says "Hold on… I need to talk to you."
Over at the hospital, Sora and his father are having a major shouting match about what the baby’s name should be. Sora wants Ryoma, his dad wants Ryunosuke. They each shout back and forth as to why each is bad. Sora’s Mom and Yukari just stare at the two of them in shock. Finally Sora’s Mom steps in and tells the two of them to shut up. That Yoriko is just in the next room giving birth and this is the last thing she needs to hear. She then tells them they should be like Kenji who is sitting, quietly waiting. We get a view of Kenji and the man is in deadlock worry mode, almost paralyzed with fear. His daughter touches his shoulder and he launches to his feet asking "Is it born?!?!" Sora’s father laughs and says to Sora that Kenji looks like a little boy. Sora agrees and tells him it was just like this when his first daughter was born. It’s only then the two realize who they are talking to and then look away in disgust. Mom has her head in her hand thinking "my men."
Scene moves to a beach side, Shion walking in front of Masahiko.
Shion: "This feels good, doesn’t it….?
Masahiko: "….yeah."
Shion: "It would have been great if I’d brought a swim suit."
Masahiko says nothing looking absorbed by his own thoughts.
Shion: "So, what did want to talk about? Was it the acting? How it should go?"
Masahiko: "That is…" How do I start this?
Shion: "That scene… You want to talk about the motivation?"
This brings an idea to Masahiko. "Ah…. Yes….! Now, the play, let’s rehearse it!"
Shion: "Here? But you can’t change clothes."
Masahiko: "Well… we can still do it. I’ll be Wakanae and you be Masami. We can do the scene that way. It’s after the kiss and you turn to see me. Is that okay?"
Shion: "…yes."
Masahiko: "Well… All right~~ Action!"
Shion turns around, spots a shocked looking Masahiko and before she can speak, he turns and runs. "Wakanae-kun!" "Wait, Wakanae-kun" Shion goes in pursuit. Masahiko suddenly comes to a stop but doesn’t look at her. "Wakanae-kun…."
Masahiko: "Either is fine….? Whether you’re a man or a woman, either is fine… I can’t say the same thing as Asagi…I… want you as a woman… No…though you may be a man, you are a woman!"
Shion: "Wakanae-kun…I…"
Masahiko: "It’s just like you said…. Shion."
Shion: Shion….?
Masahiko: "I was reluctant, concerned since I wasn't able to make sure whether you were physically a man or a woman. Now… if I asked you, would you tell me…?"
Shion: "Masahiko-kun…."
Masahiko: "Yesterday, I went to Okutame planning to break it off with Hako. But when I got there, the opposite happened. I was jilted. I’d wanted to fix things, not to leave them half-unfinished. You see, at last I understood… I…in playing your role, I was able to think like you, I got to see what you see… How I lacked compassion and how you disliked me for it… A lot…But I also discovered my own feelings… and was able to get the confidence I needed. Shion…I love you!"
Beautiful wave splashing scene on their feet as the silence lingers after Masahiko’s pronouncement and he looks so cute and formal!
Shion: "You’re serious….?" His expression says it all. "Well… Man or woman…Even though I move back and forth which one should I end up being? For you…?"
Masahiko looks at her in confusion.
Shion: "Me too… I love Masahiko-kun." Masahiko’s face lights up. "….but, not as a man. Probably… as a friend." Masahiko half falls. "….But in order for me to look at you as a man, I think I want to be a woman. Seriously….!" Masahiko’s shocked surprise is clear. Then his face lights up as he realizes the implications on her words. Shion half smiles looking beautiful!
Then she hold up a hand and says "Cut~~!" Masahiko reels. "We can stop now. Good rehearsal! Let’s go now."
Masahiko’s face at this point is too funny! "Wa… Wait a minute! Just now, that wasn’t the picture, I was being serious…."
Shion holds up a hand to stop him from going further. "It was… a joke."
Masahiko: "Y… You!"
Shion turns a happy face towards him. "Thank you."
That stops Masahiko dead on his tracks.
Shion: "Today, you were serious and open with me and for that you deserve a return service. I will tell you my true biological sex. I am…"
Masahiko gulps waiting for the answer.
Shion: "O…." (Otoko and onna (man and woman start with the same letter!!!! Agh!)
The phone rings! Masahiko falls in the sand thinking of the bad timing. It’s Sora. His sister has had the baby. It’s a girl! (I REALLY think this is also a hint from Hojo to us. J ) The two scream. "Yay!" (Another reason, how it is done, I think this is a hint from Hojo!)
Shion then takes off telling Masahiko to come on they’ve got to get over there. Masahiko calls out. "What about the answer? You haven’t told me yet!"
Shion: "Later, later!"
Masahiko: "Later…wait a minute, hey!"
She continues to tease him without answering as they disappear from the page. She really loves to tease him!
"There’s warmth----------- "
We are shown inside the hospital
"People come and people leave and people meet…."
We see the new baby. Then Sora’s sister and her hubby and daughter looking at the sleeping baby.
"New Families are born----"
She touches his hand on her shoulder. Then all three look down the hall where Sora and his father are going at it again.
"Warmth and heat are there------"
Mom and Yukari watch on in amusement, embarrassment at the two. The sister and Kenji laugh.
"There were two, then three, and now four…"
They show some roses, and then Shion and Masahiko pop out from behind them smiling.
"The spirit’s temperature increases-------"
They are all by the bed and Shion gets her father to glance towards the door. Kaoru and her father have arrived.
"And then, this warmth sometimes gets cut from a person but can grows wider, and fasten once again…. And rises once more----------"
Final scene, everyone talking, laughing as Sora’s sister holds the baby, Shion glancing our way.
