“Continuity and Vine” collections

Dale started this comic strip in the spring of 2001 for Lawrence’s short-lived alternative weekly, The Tornado. He kept at it for a solid couple of years, but has set it aside for the time being to pursue other projects. These books collect some of the best of those strips (including many not posted on the archive), along with other material unique to these collections.

I'll come up with a title later - the first Continuity and Vine collection!

I’ll Come Up With a Title Later (October 2001)

Days of Wine and Anthrax (October 2002)
The second “Continuity and Vine” collection, documenting the year following September 11. 24 pages, 8.5 x 7” ; $3.50.
The Cliche Squad Strikes Back (April 2003)
The third “Continuity and Vine” collection features political satire disguised as slam-bang superhero action! 24 pages, 8.5 x 7” ; $3.50.
Postcards
Four popular “Continuity and Vine” cartoons are available as high-quality printed postcards; set of 4/$2.00.

Shallod of Pellam Invasion of the Space Amazons from the Purple PlanetS'San of Nixsia

This title, written by Wendy Griswold, was the focus of most of Dale's artistic output from 1996-1999. In this ongoing feminist science fiction adventure in comic form join S'san and Shallod, two travelers from a planet populated entirely by women, as they travel across our earth, contrasting this world's culture with their experiences on the purple planet that they call home. Their mission: investigate this planet which is so similar to their own planet's past . . . and determine the fate of the lost traveler who went before them, Jahnae (the 1970's space amazon)! While some parts of the story may be rather complex, this is a comic which can be shared by all ages.

Invasion of the Space Amazons from the Purple Planet #1 (May 1997)
Introduces the lead characters, and gives background information on the purple planet through an encyclopedia section. Also featuring Reeta, Radical Feminist for Hire; 36 page standard b&w comic w/ 2-color covers for $2.25.
Invasion of the Space Amazons from the Purple Planet #2 (Fall 1997)
A shocking discovery (which won't be spoiled here, before you have a chance to read it)! Also features "Dimar's Story" - a tale from the purple planet's past and Reeta, Radical Feminist for Hire; 36 page standard b&w comic w/ 2-color covers for $2.25.
Invasion of the Space Amazons from the Purple Planet #3 (Winter 1997/98)
S'san and Shallod rescue children and solve problems. Also features Reeta, Radical Feminist for Hire, puzzles, "Visiting the Moon Kitties", and a story of Jahnae set in the 1970's; 36 page standard b&w comic w/ 2-color covers for $2.25.
Invasion of the Space Amazons from the Purple Planet #4 (Summer 1998)
S'san and Shallod's missions continue in the first tale, while S'san relates the saga of the great Kaa'alan explorer Erinys in the second. Also features Reeta, Radical Feminist for Hire and our first paper dolls; 36 page standard b&w comic w/ colored stock covers for $2.25.
Invasion of the Space Amazons from the Purple Planet #5 (Winter 1998/99)

Also features a Jahnae story set in the 1970's, a new puzzle, 2 more paper dolls, and Reeta, Radical Feminist for Hire; 36 page standard b&w comic w/ colored stock covers for $2.25.

Silly heroics starring the Guy with a Hammer!

This is Dale's very first original comic book! From 1982 (seen at left) through 1989 (at right) he produced this silly satiric super-hero strip, starting when he was in junior high school and continuing (sporadically) through his college years. While not always his best work (the early issues even include the kind of gratuitous foul language you might associate with teenage creativity), there are some bright spots to the series, and he keeps these available to show how easy – and fun! – it can be to get started making your own comics. In the early '90's he reformatted them all, adding some new material and correcting old spelling errors, as well as adding a few new issues. He recommends #5, #9, the Giant Size, and the Pantheon Comics crossover if you want to get a good sampling. Here's the whole collection (at least until the next time he decides to stop not working on it) ...

The Guy with a Hammer! #1 (August 1982; revised August 1992)
