Custom Built Screens is an authorized Phifer Dealer and features SunTex & SunScreen® Solar Screens.
Solar Screens protect your windows and sliding glass doors against the sun's hot rays. During the middle of summer, at 40º N latitude, as much as 230 BTU can fall on each square foot of glass. Without solar screen, as much as 186 BTU can pass through to the inside of your home.
The diagram (on the right ) shows the same window with Phifer SunScreen® installed. Up to 70% of the sun's heat is reflected, absorbed and dissipated by SunScreen before it strikes the window.
With Phifer SunTex® installed, up to 80% of the sun's heat is blocked before it hits the window. The chart below shows the comparison between unprotected, SunScreen and SunTex solar screens.
