Who We Are

We are a proud union founded in 1949 with a current membership of 125,000 and growing. Our members work in industrial electronics, beer breweries, donut-making enterprises and furniture factories, for such well-known entities as General Electric, General Motors and La-Z-Boy.

Chances are, you've gotten our beer out of our refrigerator, carried it to your patio where you sat on our furniture, moved inside onto our couch, watched the evening news on our television and then gone to bed on our mattress.

We believe workers should have a voice in their workplace and have the right to be treated with fairness and dignity in partnership with their employers.

Unions brought this country the eight-hour day, the 40-hour week, paid vacations and sick time and many other benefits that now are standard practice at most workplaces. We're proud to be part of the American labor movement and a FORCE for working families.
