New York Volunteers 188th Regiment
188th REGIMENT, NEW YORK VOLUNTEERS (Infantry)
and is dedicated to the memory of my grandafther, John C. Anderson, who was a member of this unit.
Organized at Rochester, N. Y., and mustered in October 4-22,
1864. (Co. "A" organized as Co. "E", 183rd New York Infantry
and mustered in at Elmira, N. Y. September 24, 1864.)
Left state under orders to join Army of the Potomac in the
field October 13, 1864. Attached to 2nd Brigade, 1st Div,
5th Army Corps, Army of the Potomac, October 1864 to July
1865.
