There are two really great sources of Z-Parts, and some others that a really good too.
NAME  CITY  PHONE  Notes
Courtesy Nissan  Richardson, TX  800.527.1909  25% discount on all Nissan parts. One of only TEN Dealerships nationwide allowed to sell the restored 240's.
Strano's Foriegn Car Parts  Philidelphia  800-729-1831 or E-Mail strano@ncentral.com Really nice family business. Also Z-Car enthusiests. Comes to the Z-car from a Racing background. Get your K&N's filter chargers here.
Nissan Motorsports  Stocks many items, and a lot of non-stock racing items.
British Victoria  Made a name as supplier of parts for the MG, Aston Martin, and other British sportscars. Has a good selection of 240-280 Z parts. Some 300 parts. But prices are not always cheap. I bought gas struts for my hatch and paid about 1/3 more than I should have. I could have ordered the same struts through Autozone and saved. It pays to shop around!
Z-Barn  Knoxville, TN  1-800-247-2793  Keeps rebuilt trans in stock. I'm told they have many used parts. I've not done business with them.

My 3rd Z: 1991 300ZX 2+2.  Just turned 60K miles.  Top of the line the year it was made, but still lacks a lot of the neat-o gizmos that my '86 has.  Five speed, analog dash, leather seats, and t-tops.

I've started the 60K mile maintenence stuff myself.  New plugs, PCV valves and hoses.  (Always get hoses to go with the PCV valves.  No one in LR had them in stock so I ordered them from Courtesy Nissan!  Next:  TIMING BELT, water pump, cam seals!!!

I had to have a new clutch immediately.  Nissan rebuilt altinator came next.  Now I've got a new battery to go with it.  (The old one got low on water.)

1986 300zx 2+2 GLL

My 2nd Z: 1986 300zx 2+2 GLL. 132,000 miles, stock radio, leather seats, t-tops, digital dash, power steering, brakes, windows, doorlocks, etc.  Driver seat adjusts 6 ways, has pnuematic seat adjustments.  This car is the GLL model, which means it had every option that was available that year.  This was the year that had the ground effects, before they softened the look of the car.

Improvements:
Polyurethane link pin and sway bar bushings to improve handling.
Tokio Struts, to improve handling.

Also, New Cooper Cobra tires (about a month old)
New Clutch Master and Slave cylinders - less than a year old
New brake pads, about a year old.

Rebuilt 5-speed Trans, 2-years old.
New injectors, fuel pressure regulator, ball joints about 3 years old.
Stock air intake replaced with a K&N filter to improve air intake.  (I still have the original stuff though.)
Paint about 4 years old
Timing belt at 110,000 miles.  I did it again at 132,000, because it slipped.  Didn't damage anything, but I got lucky!  Leaky cam seal was replaced too.
Catalytic converter, 4 years old.
New clutch, pressuer plate, throw-out bearing at about 62,000.  Still no slippage.

Front end is still tight, tight, tight.

Now the bad news.  I think there is a valve guide that's leaking oil.  I've priced new engines at $2k, since I don't have time, location or experience to try to tackle a rebuild myself.  If I had a garage and my boys were older, then I might.  It'd be fun.  This car has been my daily driver, and I put about 7,000 miles a year on it.

I've had this car about 7 or 8 years, so we're very familiar with one another.  It has always done just exactly what I needed it to do.  Handles like a dream.

No longer for sale.  We're autocrossing!

1983 280zx 2+2
