Macbook and Macbook Pro owners, check your hard drive revisions!

Nov/07/2007 11:43 Filed in: Apple
I don't know how I missed this until now, but apparently, several web sites are warning Apple Macbook and Macbook Pro owners to check their make and model of hard drive in their machine. If you have a Seagate SATA drive with firmware revision 7.01 - your drive is likely defective and can crash at any time! Apple hasn't come forward with an official statement on the problem yet (perhaps because many machines affected are outside the warranty period?). To check this, just click on the "System Profiler" and go down to "Serial-ATA" and click on it. Your drive details will be displayed.
