A Little Slice of Heaven in the Ozarks!

Located approximately 20 miles southwest of Theodosia near Protem, Missouri on Bull Shoals Lake; our cabin on 9 secluded acres is remote and serene. Built in 1994, the cabin is nestled in amongst oak and cedar trees, commanding a majestic view of the main channel of Bull Shoals Lake. The rustic décor includes lots of pine and wrought iron including iron-latch pine floors, ponderosa pine cabinets, doors, and built-ins; and takes you back to when times were simpler. Grizzly Turtle Lodge has 1700 square feet of main living space including 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a great room with a fireplace and loft area. The loft is home to a solid mahogany pool table, and the walls are covered in quilts, taxidermy (including Moosey our good luck Alaskan Moose head, and Lucky the Deer), along with other rustic decorations. A breezeway connects the cabin to a new log screened porch, providing an additional 600 square feet of outdoor living space including a children's game table, and outdoor rock fireplace. It's a great place to sit back and watch the lake or the stars or grab a bite of dinner. The huge deck is ideal for watching the awesome sunsets and wildlife.

Grizzly Turtle Lodge sleeps up to 10 people. There are 2 sets of bunk beds in the Rooster Bedroom, twin beds in the Turtle Bedroom, and a Queen Log Bed in the Master Moose Bedroom upstairs. In addition there is a King Futon and a fold out sofa-couch. Towels, linens, pots, pans, plates, and eating utensils are included. Also included are a combo DVD/VCR player, CD player/stereo, color TV, BBQ Grill, washer/dryer, and heating and air conditioning. We recently added some DVDs to the VHS collection there, but you may want to bring or rent some more. Sorry no phone at GTL... cell phones rule!

Remember to bring food, but a variety of small stores are within 10 miles of us that also rent VHS movies. A public boat ramp and lake access is less than a mile away at the end of McBride Road. Also within 10 miles are gas pumps, marinas, and the only remaining Ferry on Bull Shoals Lake. In particular, Buck Creek State Park and Boat Dock is 8 road miles or 4 lake miles away and has camping, swimming, boat and slip rentals. Buck Creek Boat Dock is a great place to stop for gas, oil, bait, and sundries while on the lake. Refer to our LINKS page and c<i>all them to reserve a slip.

Looking for a place to boat to for breakfast, lunch or dinner? Try the Wagon Wheel Resort Cafe in the Highway 125 Recreation Area just past the ferry on the Arkansas side. They have great breakfast, hamburgers, and milkshakes and they are about 20 minutes away by boat. Or make a trip to Bull Shoals Marina and visit Gaston's on the White River for lunch, about an hour on the lake.

The Pioneer Store in Protem is about 5 miles away. This is a great local stop for groceries, gas, video tapes, or ice cream. Head east towards the state park and find the Dinner Bell a popular family style restaurant with awesome breakfast. For more grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping needs Theodosia is 17 miles away on charming country roads.

The Bull Shoals area features excellent fishing, hunting, and water sports. Not too far away is Branson, Springfield, and a number of rural attractions like caves, float trips, golf courses, Silver Dollar City, and shopping. Our cabin makes a great getaway, business retreat, family reunion, or honeymoon spot. If you love nature, you won't believe the quiet beauty and spectacular views from our deck and porch, and you're likely to see deer, birds, fox, roadrunners, and other critters around the house. Everything stops for sun downs at the lodge... they're truly spectacular. Even a friendly game of pocket billiards, puzzles, or cards seems more fun when you're at Grizzly Turtle Lodge. A wonderful place to "de-compress" from the stress and hectic pace of modern life, it's a little slice of heaven just waiting for you!
