Maiorca/Maiorka Family Association

Mission

The Maiorca/Maiorka Family Association was created with an informal vote at the 1999 family reunion to help shift the burden of family reunions and projects from an individual to a small group of elected members.

Specific plans are to use the Association to raise enough money through the sale of T-shirts, publications, and the like, to pay for newsletter publication and distribution, maintain a web site, and pay for general family reunion needs.

The Association can also be used to raise money for special projects, like maintain family burial sites, put up or repair headstones, and the like.

Some other reasons for the Association include:

  • Fostering love and understanding among family members
  • Producing something to leave future generations
  • Performing family research, compiling records, avoiding duplication of research, and providing copies to family members
  • Sharing finances for genealogical research, thereby improving the quality of research
  • Preserving family records and memorabilia, storing keepsakes, photographs, valuable records, and documents
  • Holding annual meetings or reunions where all can meet and share their common bond

Board Members

We solicited family members to volunteer for the board as a well to help plan future reunions. While there have been no formal elections or positions assigned yet, the volunteers will be doing so soon. The board is now deciding their goals and objectives for the tasks they have chosen to accept. Once that is done we can create and fill these positions:
  • President (coordinator of all activities and helps in all instances)
  • Vice President (assists president, becomes next president, assists in all activities) Communications Coordinator (newsletter editor, webmaster, family history book, mailing list maintenance)
  • Treasurer (finances, bank liaison, budget, bookkeeping, check writer, bill payer)
  • Projects Coordinator (reunions, cemetery upkeep, ordering T-shirts, etc.)
  • People Finder (locate family members)

The members comprising the first board include:
