Craftsman for Hire - Bill Wood

As time passes by, solid, non-damaged video arcade game cabinets are becoming increasingly harder to find. This is especially true of the smaller, more compact cabinets referred to as "mini" or "cabaret", since fewer were originally made back in 70's and 80's, many were converted, many were damaged by time and neglect, etc. These smaller cabinets (games) were very popular in bars, homes, or any place that didn't have a lot of space for a game.

Today, mini and cabaret cabinets are still highly sought after by the video game collecting community, operators, resellers, etc. Unfortunately, there are virtually no sources for these cabinets, so I have decided to offer some of these mini & cabaret style cabinets for sale.

My cabinets are brand NEW, reproductions of the original cabinets. Using original cabinets as my guide, I have matched these cabinets as closely as possible to preserve the original look, feel, etc. of the game. Every detail of the cabinet was considered during the making of these cabinets, since authenticity is very important to me. These cabinets are strong, well built and made from high-quality solid wood and plywood (not flimsy or water absorbing pressboard / particleboard). They are built to last a lifetime, unlike some of the original game cabinets!

New Cabinets Currently Available:

Galaxian mini
I've been told this same cabinet was also used for Close Encounters, Space Zap, etc. The cabinet is an exact copy of an original, except for a few small points. Originally, the monitor was supported by two metal bars that bolted through both sides of the cabinets. To keep the sides smooth, these metal bars were replaced with hard wood (the same as Midway did for the Pac-Man mini). However, the Midway Pac-Man wood still required a metal, mounting plate for the rear of the monitor. No such metal piece is necessary in these new cabinets.

Note:
Depending on demand, Galaxian mini side-art stencils may soon be available. If you want side-art, then please state this when ordering.

Pac-Man mini
This same cabinet was also used for Rally-X, and one other game, I believe. The cabinet is an exact copy of an original, except for a few small points. Originally, the Midway Pac-Man monitor mounted to a piece of wood, but still required a metal plate for the rear of the monitor. No such metal piece is necessary in these new cabinets.

Note:
Midway Galaxian mini and Pac-Man mini cabinets are very similar in their style and build, but Midway did make the Pac-Man mini front (below the control panel) slightly different than the Galaxian mini. This unique detail has been preserved in my new cabinets (one of the pictures below shows this).

Pricing:

Galaxian mini - $375 Assembled, $325 Un-Assembled
Pac-Man mini - $375 Assembled, $325 Un-Assembled

Coming Soon (More New Cabinets):

The following are cabinets I currently have and am busy going through to make the New, Reproduction cabinets. I hope to have these available within the next month or so, and will update the site when they are ready. If you are interested in one of these cabinets, feel free to call or mail me saying so. :) All cabinets will be made using the same high-quality standards, materials and craftsmanship as the cabinets currently being offered.

Williams Games (all use the same cabinet):
- Robotron mini
- Stargate mini
- Moon Patrol mini
- Make Trax mini
- Bubbles mini

Atari Games (all use the same cabinet):
- Centipede cabaret
- Dig Dug cabaret
- Tempest cabaret

Note:
The Robotron, Stargate and Make Trax mini cabinets are all the same. I haven't seen a Bubbles or Moon Patrol mini to verify these are also the same, but have been told they are by a reliable source.

Future Cabinets Being Considered:

I'm considering making New, Reproductions of the following cabinets. However, I would really like to have at least 3 pre-orderes before committing to making them, so I can at least break even on the time and expense of making them. If you only want one cabinet, either from the list below or using a cabinet you already have, I will make a new, reproduction for $795. All cabinets will be made using the same high-quality standards, materials and craftsmanship as the cabinets currently being offered.

Midway Games (all use the same cabinet):
- Ms. Pac-Man mini
- Galaga mini
- Possibly others cabinet designs, such as TRON and Satan's Hollow.
