COBOL Style Forum

In COBOL as in life, there's more than one way to do any given thing -- but some ways are better than others. These pages are about which ways are better.

The purpose of these pages is to stimulate thought, and perhaps debate. You may not agree with every recommendation, nor is every recommendation appropriate in every case.

Dissent Welcomed

If you disagree with me, and can support your disagreement with a coherent argument, I will cheerfully incorporate your point of view into these pages. I might even change my mind.

If you agree with me -- I could always use some moral support.

My hope is to provide a collection of opposing views so that the reader can consider the issues and make an informed judgement. Such a forum could supplement the ongoing debates in the Usenet news group comp.lang.cobol, but without the repetition, misinformation, name-calling, and general inanity that obscure those discussions.

If you'd like to contribute, see the guidelines for contributors.
