Scott, A - ENotes: At the outbreak of the Civil War, Alfred was a planter in Alabama. Declining a commission, he enlisted as a private in Company G of the 9th Alabama infantry. Later he joined the staff of General Edward A. Perry of the Florida Brigade (Perry was married to Alfred's wife's sister).
