My Music Man 212HD-130 Amplifier Page
(Always Under Construction)

This was sent in by Tim Owen in Mingo, Ohio. This looks a lot like mine. My
Serial Number is 0005807 and my Chassis number is 2475-130-UL.
And those casters have held up for twenty-four years! But now look
below at the difference in the original Music Man speakers and
ordinary speakers!
One night, I was in a band that had an outdoor gig. I was the lead
guitarist with my 212HD-130 by Music Man (2 12-inch speakers switchable
from 65 watts to 130 watts). The other guitarist had the Sun 2000
Colosseum Lead Amp with six 12-inch speakers and 200 watts of power.
During the sound-check that afternoon, due
to the speakers in my amp I was adequately loud, but my leads didn't
stand out up front like leads really should. I was working for McCord
Music Co. at the time so I borrowed a 212 cabinet for that evening. This
cabinet had two more 12-inch speakers like mine, no amplification,
just speakers. I hooked them up to my amp with my switch on 130
watts. That gave me 4 12-inch speakers with 130 watts and the other
guitarist 6 12-inch speakers with 200 watts.
They kept telling me I was TOO LOUD!!!
Now a little about the Music Man 212HD-130 Amplifier.
Model 212HD-130 is a two-channel amplifier. Channel one has two inputs,
bright switch, volume, treble, mid-range and bass controls. Channel two
features two inputs, bright switch, volume, treble, mid-range, bass,
reverb, tremelo intensity and tremelo speed controls. A deep switch, master
gain control and power reduction switch operate on both channels. A dual
foot switch is supplied for remote control of reverb and tremelo functions.
The amplifier also has an extension speaker jack and an impedance switch for
selection of either four or eight OHM loads.
The 212HD-130 is equipped with two heavy-duty 12 inch speakers with
2½ inch aluminum voice coils and 28 oz. alnico magnets.
An extraordinary amount of magnetic energy is available in order to
efficiently translate the amplifier's 130 watts of R.M.S. power into maximum
useable accoustic POWER!
As small as the Fender Twin Reverb in size (19½" X 26½" X 11"), the 212HD-130
weighs 72 lbs. due to the magnets, and casters are recommended!!
In the last band I was in, I used the 65 watt setting on 8 OHM's and kept
the volume below 3! all the time, in the club where we played.
And how about this!

Kimmo Kangas, from Tampere, Finland sent this 112 RP on 4-14-99.
Look on the Owners' Page for his email and comments. This amp is not in the 1976 price list, either. It
even has a phase shifter factory-built into it. We need info on it!!
More to come, later!
