Japanese version of "Guitar Graphic" Magazine, with a picture of his guitar
in it!
Bill Shafer was at shaferm@micronet.wcu.edu and had a seventies Music
Man Sting Ray guitar for sale.It was natural finish, active electronics and in
immaculate condition. Asking $500.00. He was not asking enough!! From Fri, 13 Sep

has Sabre II that was made in 1978. He first wrote me Wed, 03 Sep 1997.
Then, in April of 1999 Christian let me know he also has a Sting Ray I, as well as

bought in 1977!! The serial number on it is G0003481. He also has an
HD130 -- 212RH bottom!!And here's a quote from Lee: "This is indeed an
incredible guitar.. It's without a doubt not only the best guitar I have ever
owned, but it's the best guitar I have EVER played. The action is fast and
true... the bridges adjustment range allow me to set the harmonics to
PERFECTION... :) It stays in tune better than anyaxe I have ever seen

More recently (9/28/98) Justin Bankston
jbankston@organizedmedia.com bought "an all original 1976 Music
Man Sting Ray I guitar. It is sunburst with a maple fingerboard. It is
quite a great guitar, as you well know, and I am very excited about it." Now,
Justin is really a bass player and is thinking about TRADING IT!!! Write to
him and join me in saying KEEP IT!!
And today (11/10/98) I got mail from Paul Gabriel at jpfiester@hotmail.comASKING to be addedto the page because he was so excited about his find!
He said, "I just purchased a lefty Music Man Sting Ray (1979). Yes
lefty. I've been looking for this bass guitar for sixteen years,
finally my dream came true". Whew! That's GREAT!
And here's another owner. 05/10/99 I got mail from Rich Evanko at riche@ntplx.net wrote telling me he
had just bought a 1978 Music Man Sabre I for $295.00!!!! It's got
a tobacco sunburst finish and looks Great! Way to go Rich! Also see the

June 12th '99 I got a mail from Sami El Amri atSabodie@aol.com. He's in Tennessee
and wrote to tell me he picked up a Sting Ray II for $250.00!!! THE SECRET
IS STILL NOT OUT!!!
June 14th '99 Harto Sander at HartoSander@t_online.de bought a blonde Music Man Sting Ray I with
a black pick guard and a serial number of G004491! Pretty EARLY,
Harto! And what did he pay in Germany for this American Collectors' Item???
$480.00!!!! Way to go Harto!!
Then on June 16th '99 Christopher Eaton at ggceaton@mobiletel.cominformed
me that he had bought an even EARLIER Sting Ray I, serial number G003505
! He specifically asked to be part of the "lucky list ofMusic Man
owners. He's exactly right!!

to tell me he had bought a 1978 Sabre I, SerialNumber A003105 (and even the
original case and the booklet that came with it) for a mere $550.00
U.S!!!!! Really now,folks, people don't know the true value of these

this thing is really amazing. YES!
On the last day of the 1900's, Henry Goldblum wrote and informed me of
his black Sting Ray 1 with serial number G004352. He bought the guitar in
New Jersey not long after they first became available. (No kidding! With

in Copenhagen, Denmark, wrote to tell me of
his Music Man Sabre II, serial# A 003986. And if you're interested in the
controls on it, he sent me scans from the manual. Press the Back button. By the way,
Flemming bought it Dec. 12. 1979 in Copenhagen!
December 9, 2000, Steen wrote from
SWWM@email.com, saying he has a StingRay II (ser. # G004934 - natural finish). He
bought it in 1977 in Denmark along with his MM 410 - 130 amp (Chassis # 2275-130 EX). WoW!!
The last message I got from Bruce M. Boney after my computer vrash and loss of all my emails
was 12/18/00. You can contact Bruce at vegasrealestate-boney@email.msn.com. He has the diagrams and schematics, owners manuals,
catalogs, etc along with sabres and amps - 6 sabres and 15 amps or so!! Great news for Owners!! He's
in Las Vegas and his son in Sugarland, TX has three more!
And on 02/07/2001, Larry Frayne wrote to tell me about his black Sabre II. Contact Larry at
lfrayne@flash.net. He said,"It's surprising that
these guitars don't go for more, as they're great players, with a wide range of sounds, superior to strats of
the period. Not to mention the quality of the instruments." I hear you, Larry!!

(with case) that he bought from a guy for $475 NZ (which is about $200 US). The guy he bought it from didnt know
how to play the guitar and had had it in his closet since 1982 when he bought it second hand!

Okay, I hope you're sitting down. Get a load of this. A guy named Ed Melberg, a keyboard player, at
emelcap@yahoo.com, wrote on 12/12/2001 and said he had a friend
who GAVE him a Sting Ray I natural finish, white pick guard (the original color scheme of the first
ones), with the serial Number G001044 !!! This could be the 44th one made!!
Mine is G001172, and Paul Barfoot (above) has G002775, but G001044 !! WOW!! Hang on to that guitar!!

Noel also said, "It's also funny that,two Stingray,whith the same kind of strings,have a

With three rules you can make 204 chords. Two more rules puts you up to 612chords!
Put all the rules together and you get over 15,800 chords!
I guess I'll have to also include Eric Clapton as a Music Man Amp Owner
(actually guitar, too, but no pic of it).

veteran player and runs a Strat with abuilt-in pre-amp into the amp for what
(I'm certain) is a fantastic sound!

just purchased a 212 HD 130 in absolutely showroom condition for 300
dollars." Anotherfantastic deal!
(04/04/99) This came in from Dan Clark at hudpucker@worldnet.att.net: "My 7 year search for a 212 RH 130 in good shape finally
ended... it has both logo plates and even has the original alnico speakers
too...just blows away the marshall 1936 2-12 that I traded straight up

Dr. David Reimer, from Scottland, wrote on July 19, 1999, about his
early 80's MM 112RD (Reverb andDistortion built-ins. He can be reached at
dreimer@holyrood.ed.ac.uk. He loves his amp, but wishes it was now 220Vrather than 110V. "Who
knows, maybe some European owners will get in touch."

in showroom condition with the serial# BN02433 and The speakers
have the big square MM magnets!

expectations." What a deal!
