My ButterFly Page

In 1997, I brought home a 4" pot of Fennel to plant in my herb garden.  In a few days the plant was
almost gone and there was a big green striped caterpiller growing and getting fat.  Well, this was the
beginning of our Butterfly garden.  We started planting host plants and nectar plants that the different
kinds of butterflies need to complete their life cycle.  We built some screened boxes so that we can
keep the caterpillers confined until they "do their thing" and become beautiful butterflies and we
release them.  We have mostly Gulf Fritillary and Black Swallowtails.
