Mrs. Bueckman's 6th Grade Classroom Page

The 6th grade is a nice cross between a self-contained elementary classroom and a middle school situation where students change classes and have many different teachers.  Our Savior Lutheran has approximately fifty students in sixth through eighth grades under the supervision of three teachers.  We feel our system helps to prepare students for high school in a more structured and nurturing atmosphere than a typical middle school setting.

As the sixth grade homeroom teacher, I teach all of the core subjects except math and reading.  Mrs. Loontjer, the seventh grade homeroom teacher, teaches reading to my class.  Mr. Fiala, the eighth grade homeroom teacher, teaches math to my students.   The last period of the day we do a three-way rotation in which Mr. Fiala teaches art, Mrs. Loontjer teaches music/computer, and I teach P.E.

Under this system students get the chance to have different teachers and learn to make adjustments accordingly.  At the same time, the teachers work very closely together monitoring every aspect of the students' school experience.  One thing students can count on at OSL, is that they will not get lost in the crowd.  We know each has been specially created by our Heavenly Father and bought with the precious blood of Jesus our Savior. That is a message everyone needs to hear and know, especially a young adolescent.
