At long last...8th Grade!!!  Many people have been looking forward to 8th grade for many years.  It symbolizes the end of their time at Our Savior and then getting ready for their high school years.
The main goal that we have this year is to grow in their faith in their Savior, Jesus Christ.  Students that are members of Our Savior Lutheran Church go through Confirmation class with Pastor Eatherton in preparation of Confirmation Sunday, the first Sunday in May where they confirm the faith that began at their baptism.
The second goal that we have for the year is to prepare them well for their time in high school.  Most students that graduate from Our Savior continue their Christian education at Lutheran South.  Many students that return to Our Savior to visit tell how well Our Savior has prepared them for their time in high school.  We are very proud of the many achievements that our alumni have accomplished.

In 8th grade, our class continues their Religion instruction with studies in New Testament History.  We have Memory assignments due three times a week.  We study American History up through the Civil War.  We are required by Missouri law to pass a Constitution test, both Federal and Missouri.  Mrs. Bueckman teaches Physical Science and Mrs. Loontjer teaches Language Arts with the highly anticipated research paper.

At Our Savior, we are proud to offer an extensive math curriculum in the upper grades.  In 5th grade, we offer the 5th grade or 6th grade math classes.  In 6th grade we offer 6th or 8th grade math classes.  In 7th  grade we offer either 7th or 8th grade math or Pre-Algebra.   And in 8th grade we offer either 8th grade math, Pre-Algebra or Algebra.  Students in Pre-Algebra and Algebra compete in the Excellence in Mathematics contest at Florrisant Valley Community College in March.

The biggest thrill for most 8th graders is to go on the class trip to Chicago in May.  We charter a bus and travel to the main tourist attractions:  Shedd's Aquarium, Sears Tower Skydeck, Museum of Science and Industry, Hard Rock Cafe and the Field Museum of Natural History.  We take a boat ride up and down the Chicago River and out into Lake Michigan.  We stay at the downtown Hilton Hotel.  Many fond memories are taken with them as they wind down their years at Our Savior.
