Dear Parents:

By learning how to organize and write a research paper, students will be better prepared for high school and college.  This project is very important and will require a lot of work at home.  Please look through this packet of information to find out what will be required of your son or daughter.  Here includes all requirements, a list of due dates, grading information, and many other helpful hints.  Please note that the majority of the final grade is based on the organization of the paper rather than on content.  The student will need to visit a library for information on their topic.

These papers will need to be typed.  We have been learning keyboarding and word processing in computer class.  I plan to use some computer classes for students to type their papers.  We will be using Microsoft Word.  If you have that available at home, your son or daughter can bring a 3 ½ x 5 inch floppy disk to save their work.  This way he or she may type the paper at home as well as at school.

A research paper has very strict and precise requirements.  We will be going through the steps at school, but I encourage you to read through this packet with your son or daughter and make sure they understand and are following the guidelines.  This is a major project and will be 20% of the 3rd quarter English grade.

In Christ,

Mrs. Jennifer Von Behren
