Third graders continue to learn more about
organization and responsibility as growing and maturing 8-9 year olds.
The most important thing they learn, though, is that Jesus loves
them and that each one is a special, unique child of God. Communication between home and school is very important to us. This already begins before school starts as the teachers make a visit to the home of each student in their class. We use daily assignment sheets in third grade.
This is a wonderful form of parent/teacher/student communication.
Parents and students find this daily routine extremely helpful
regarding homework and assignments. Every
Friday I send home a class newsletter and Link-the school newsletter. |

Ongoing activities in third grade include math
journals, student-led devotions, Accelerated Reading, student helper of
the day, and individualized SRA reading.
Third graders also learn to play the soprano recorder and play
during a chapel or Sunday church service. We also enjoy a variety of classes and activities
besides our daily subjects. We
have P.E. with Mrs. McQueen, music with Mrs. Goodwin, the school library
and computers, monthly bookmobile visits, and trips to Powell Hall to hear
the St. Louis Symphony. We
also join together as a school family every Wednesday for chapel. Third graders can be a member of KOOS (Kids of Our
Savior) Singers. This group
is open to students in grades 2-6 and meets before school. Cross Country running is also a sport open to third
graders. A lot happens in third grade! If you are interested in seeing our classroom, please call
the school office to set up a time for a visit.
We would love to show you around! Mrs. Schulz |
