Getting Started
Cost For each student there is an annual tuition, usually paid monthly, and two fees paid before school begins. Specifics on these costs are found here.
Members of Our Savior congregation are eligible to apply for tuition assistance. Any school family, member or non-member, which finds itself financially unable to keep its commitment is invited to contact the school office to discuss an alternative schedule of payment.
Enrollment Generally, registration is complete when several forms are completed and turned in to the school office with the registration fee. Official enrollment follows automatically for most children.
In the case of new students registering for grades 1-8, we review the child’s records from his/her previous school(s) and interview the parent before the child is officially accepted.
Entrance Requirements For preschool and kindergarten children, normally the only requirement for enrollment is the age requirement. Kindergarten children must have turned 5 before August 1st. Preschool children must have turned 3 or 4 before August 1st.
Students entering OSLS for the first time at grade levels 1-8 are required to have transcripts of their previous school records sent to us before we can officially enroll the child. In most cases a principal interview with the parent may also be required.
The academic and other expectations are generally higher than in public schools. An entrance test or other interviews may be required if there is some question about the child’s readiness for a particular grade level or for our academic program in general.
Observing OSLS in Action We do not conduct an orientation day for prospective families. Instead we strongly encourage parents to visit us on a typical school day to see first hand what the school classrooms, teachers, and students are like. Please contact the school office to arrange a visit.
To Get Started... 1. Complete the blue registration form, the green commitment form, and the two emergency information cards. The white medical information form is not needed now but must be completed before school begins. Preschool or kindergarten children entering OSLS for the first time will need to submit a copy of their birth certificate for our files.
2. Bring or send those completed forms with the registration fee. Make checks payable to Our Savior Lutheran School.
3. We’ll send you an official confirmation that your materials have been received and are complete (or that certain items are still missing).
4. Follow up information will be sent to you during the summer. Home visits are made before school to children entering grades K-8. For preschool parents, an orientation meeting is scheduled approximately one week before preschool class begins.
