The
Grand Canyon

I had a friend tell me recently that they tried to find the Grand Canyon and were unable to do so. This Canyon is 227 miles long, 18 miles wide at it's widest point, and approximately 1 mile deep. This is "a very big hole in the ground," as my grandson told me. I can understand how someone could miss this wonder of nature if they did not know where to look. The Grand Canyon is one of the 7 wonders of the world, and it would be a shame for you to miss it, if you are looking for it. (To be sure you don't miss this natural wonder, I will be including some useful links at the end of the pictures. One of these links will have driving directions.)
Our Jumping off point for the Grand Canyon was Williams, AZ. A very small town, about 50 miles south of the Canyon. This is our second trip to the Canyon, so this time we decided to take the train tour, followed by a 3 hour bus tour around the rim of the Canyon. The advantage of the train and bus tour too is the knowledge of the staff, as well as some of the anecdotes they shared with us. It was a long trip, but for those nature lovers out there, it was worth it. I have mentioned before two of my favorite places to be, the Mountains and the dessert, and here they were, all rolled up in one. We did drive back up one time, to catch the sunset in the Canyon, since the train tour ended well before sunset. I would recommend seeing the sunset if it is at all possible.
I hope you enjoy these pictures, and as always your comments are appreciated. Thanks, Shirley :)
