Notes for: Eli Ricketson

RICKETSON, ELI 1846-1922 Eli Ricketson was born February 11, 1840 in Ware (now Coffee) County, Georgia, the son of Allen Ricketson and Luraney Sears. Eli was married in February of 1861 to Jemima Jane Adams. She was born March 2, 1843. To Eli and Jemima, ten children were born: 1. Delila b. 12/16/1861, m. Thomas Gardner Ricketson, son of Hiram, d. Charles Christopher Scott, d. April 28, 194. Mohave County, AZ 5. Levina b. 5/13/1870, m. David York Wilbern, d. 1913, Karnes County, TX 6. Julia b. 6/6 /1877, m. Hugh L. Butler, 1904, d.March 11, 1951, Travis County, TX 7. James Eli, Jr. b. 12/24/1879, m. Edna Carlos Duff, d. June 12, 1923, Llano county, TX 8. Berrien b. 5/3/1880, m. Carlos Eva Kuykendall 1898 9. Oscar L. b. 10/11/1881, m. Willie M. Phillips, d. June 10, 1949, Llano County 10. Ernest Lee b. 8/23/1883, m. Ida Ellen Bird, d. December 31, 1946 Eli served in the Civil War in the 63rd Georgia Regiment. He survived being a prisoner of war and running the gauntlet. Eli Ricketson and his wife, Jemima, moved to Llano County Texas before the 1880 census. They lived in the Oxford area. Jemima died November 3, 1901. After her death, Eli married October 26, 1905, Clara Ann Strickland of Texas. Eli died January 29, 1922 in Llano, Texas and is buried in the Oxford Cemetery.
