MASTER ROBERT DUNN

Master
Robert Dunn started his martial arts training in (2) Japanese styles of
karate
called Go-Ju and Shorei.
It
wasn’t until the late 1960’s that Master Robert Dunn was exposed to a new
and
exciting Korean martial art
called Tae-Kwon-Do.
On
December 1, 1970 Master Robert Dunn opened his first martial arts school
and
after his certification the
following year, began teaching the art of traditional
Tae-Kwon-Do exclusively.
Master
Robert Dunn’s first Tae-Kwon-Do instructor was Master Young Il Kong.
In
1971, Master Robert Dunn achieved the rank of 1st. Dan Black Belt in the
art of
Tae-Kwon-Do and was certified
by the International Tae-Kwon-Do Federation.
In 1972, Master Robert Dunn achieved the rank of 2nd. Dan Black Belt.
In 1972, Master Robert Dunn designed a program to meet the needs of
“new” Black
Belts, he called it:
“Intensive Training for Black Belt”.
In
1974, Master Robert Dunn achieved the rank of 3rd. Dan Black Belt.
On
August 1, 1977 Master Robert Dunn founded the United Martial Arts Association
in Little Rock Arkansas.
In
1977, Master Robert Dunn achieved the rank of 4th. Dan Black Belt.
In 1977, Master Robert Dunn was appointed as Chief Test Examiner and Chief
Instructor for the state of
Arkansas by the International Chin-Mu-Kwan
Tae-Kwon-Do Federation.
In
1982, Master Robert Dunn achieved the rank of 5th. Dan Black Belt.
In
1985, Master Robert Dunn established the National Black Belt Testing program,
an event that would be held
annually to establish and examine traditional
Tae-Kwon-Do promotional testing
requirements.
In
1986, Master Robert Dunn achieved the rank of 6th. Dan Black Belt.
In
1987, Master Robert Dunn was also awarded a 6th. Dan Black Belt Certification
from Master E. C. Ahn, founder
of the Hae-San Martial Arts Association for his
accomplishments as a Master
Instructor.
In
1987, Master Robert Dunn was certified as an International Judge by the
Hae-San
Martial Arts Association.
In
1987, Master Robert Dunn was awarded a plaque for being an Outstanding
Master
Instructor by Dan Soward, the
president of the International Karate Hall of Fame.
In 1988,
Master Robert Dunn was appointed vice-president of the International
Chin-Mu-Kwan Tae-Kwon-Do Federation
by his instructor Grand Master Howard Y.
Kang.
In 1988,
Master Robert Dunn was “inducted” into the International Karate Hall of
Fame by Dan Soward, the president
of the International Karate Hall of Fame in Las
Vegas, Nevada.
In 1993, Master Robert Dunn achieved the rank of 7th. Dan Black Belt.
In
1996, Master Robert Dunn developed the “promotional testing requirement
booklets” to help testing students
achieve their goals.
Master Robert Dunn competed in regional and national level tournaments
during the
late 1960’s and early 1970’s.
His competition ended with a record of:
- 67 … trophies
- 48 … were 1st. place
- 34 … were 1st. place
in Form competition
Master
Robert Dunn has received many citations and awards for his sacrifices in
the
development of the Art of Tae-Kwon-Do
and he is considered by many Master
Instructors to be a world-class
Master Instructor.
Master Robert Dunn has held steadfast to “traditional” teachings of Tae-Kwon-Do
and it’s original Chang-Hon
patterns, in order to preserve the Art of Tae-Kwon-Do
in it’s “traditional form”
for coming generations…

I have never met an individual like this man in my life. Master Robert Dunn has taken me to levels in the martial arts that I didn't know were possible for ME. He does not know how to say no. He took me under his wing and the rest is history. To say he has been an inspiration to me is a gross understatement. Thank you sir.
