In January 1966 two Air Ambulances were sent to the Dominican Republic when the dictator there was overthrown. The 2 Helicopters were assigned to the 42nd Field Hospital. The unit was active from January 1966 until September 1966 when it deactivated and returned to the United States on A Navy LSD.
