Hakomi Body-centered
Psychotherapy
- The Hakomi method is a style of body centered
psychotherapy. Hakomi offers a non-violent, non-judgmental
way of accessing deeply held core beliefs, suppressed and
repressed emotions and memories that inhibit the fullest
enjoyment and experience off life.
- The basic principles of Hakomi are:
- 1. Mindfulness: Hakomi is the
study of the many levels of self while in a relaxed,
aware, meditative state of being.
- 2. Mind /Body Wholism: The
interaction between beliefs, memories, images and
emotions with the present physical experience.
- 3. Organicity: Healing is an
internally directed self-organizing process.
- 4. Non-violence: Therapy goes
with the grain, defenses are valuable and natural
protective devises and as such are supported, until new
more adaptive responses emerge.
- 5. Unity: The client and
therapist enter into an unconscious cooperation to help
facilitate healing. The Hakomi Therapist supports the
natural process as it unfolds, the emphasis is on the
clients understanding of their own experience rather than
so much advice giving and interpretation from the
therapist.
