Jentry Ann is our pride and joy. She's now 20 months, and we have a 2nd on the way.  What were we thinking?

I am a 7th grade math teacher at Lancaster Junior High. This is my 7th year of teaching and I really enjoy it because I love having fun with the students. I enjoy golf, softball, bowling, and volleyball. My other hobbies are watching sports on TV, collecting sports cards, and writing poetry. I'm single and live in an apartment with my brother Ricky. I have 2 rat terriers named Cricket and Neicie. That's about it...

Aloha everyone.  I have been doing well enough, and staying out of trouble, ha ha ;-).  Quick update - took some college classes after high school, then went in the Navy as an aircraft mechanic, got to see some cool stuff and go to some cool places.  Afterwards I went back to college at night and now I am doing Unix systems administration and programming.  I was such a screw off and class skipper back then and now I work in a technical field where keeping up takes a lot of work, go figure..  Anyway, I would like to hear from all of you.  Via con dios.

I'm currently teaching 8th grade math and Algebra at Byrd Middle School in Duncanville.  I've been teaching for 7 years.  It can be a challenge at times, but I definitely know God has placed me there for a reason.  In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf, softball, volleyball, bowling, NFL Air-It-Out, and any other sport.  I don't know what else to say, so I guess that will do.

Well after that exhausting reunion, I had a baby girl on February 2, 1999.  Her name is Payton Le'Ann and she was 6lbs. 6 oz.  I quit my job to stay home with her and it has been so much fun! (exhausting too!!)  I am a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant and working towards my 1st free car which is a red grand am.  Other than that, I will be celebrating my 30th birthday on October 4th and am not to excited about it!  I don't know about the rest of you, but to me that sounds really old!  I will be partying it up on Saturday night! Life has not been to bad, but I do miss having time to spend with my friends.  Everyone seems to be going in different directions! Lets plan a "mini reunion" to meet some time for cocktails and fun! Everybody think about it!  Take care all!

What can I say? I'm a computer geek on the verge of Y2K. I stay very busy! I work for a small start-up company, Rush Creek Software, as lead programmer. We may get bought by a VERY large software company soon. (Fingers crossed.) I also develop applications and web sites in my spare time (which is not very often). Check out: http://www.hacksystems.com or http://www.rushcreeksoftware.com to see some of my handi-work.

I'm married to the most wonderful woman in the world, Angela. Married 7 years and still NO KIDS!! But we're trying! (Fingers crossed on this one too.)

Own the condo next door to Doug Fair in Farmers Branch. Also own two of the most 'beautiful' acres in Ovilla, which desperately needs a house built on them! (Fingers crossed once again.)

Maybe one day?

Wassup "watching the game drinkin’ a bud". No I’ve been doing more than that. It just seems that way since I recently celebrated my 30th B-Day on Feb. 9th, and, well...I’m still celebrating. Why not! Also I have moved into a new house in Grapevine which is really cool! I spend most of my free time, with a very special lady. We have a dog and no squids. I hope to get another dog real soon. I’m still working for Sprint in sales and enjoying it. Recently I have started volunteering my time to charity such as Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels; etc...It’s a really rewarding thing. I also enjoy riding my bike and playing softball. When I’m not busy with all that I still enjoy hanging out with friends out on the town. I never bump into old classmates or hear what you guys are up to and there’s not any new entries on Shelby’s site, so update and let us know how you are. Until next time, C ~

Long overdue I know, but I wanted to take this opportunity to tell everyone about the FABULOUS time we had this past summer at the Annual Mast BBQ Bash! The turnout was great but many many faces were missing. I'm certain that Shelby would not mind my extending the invitation to EVERYONE in the class of '88. if you hadn't already heard, Shelby is the GREATEST chef within a 100 mile radius. He is a most gracious host -- you can get away with almost anything -- and crash for the night if the situation warrants.

Planning ahead, the NOT-TO-BE-MISSED BBQ of y2001 is slated for: June 23, 2001.

And to wet your lips a bit (and some of you have beautiful wet lips....sorry, my own agenda) a sample of menu items is listed: fried gator, fried frog legs, brisket, ribs, sausage, pork chops, boudan and fried oysters.

So, bring the spouses, lovers or whatever! Come taste what everyone has been talking about so you won't be the last to know!

See you there.

Well folks, we lost another one.  On January 9, 2004, Todd Westbrook passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.  My thoughts and prayers go to his family.  Below is the Dallas Morning News article and obituary.

Former Lancaster basketball star dies at 33
By TRACY SCHULTZ / The Dallas Morning News
Former Lancaster High School basketball player Todd Westbrook died Jan. 9 at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas after an 18-year battle with cancer. He was 33.
A visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home, 6449 Houston School Road in Dallas. The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Faithful Missionary Baptist Church, 6255 Bonnie View Road in Dallas.
Mr. Westbrook was born July 14, 1970, in Dallas. He learned he had cancer in 1986 after earning District 7-4A sophomore of the year and first-team honors.
Mr. Westbrook missed most of his junior season. The Dallas Morning News produced several stories about his fight with the disease. The News chronicled Mr. Westbrook's full-time return to the court as a senior in 1987.
That season, he helped Lancaster to a No. 2 ranking in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' Class 4A poll. Lancaster reached the 1988 Class 4A semifinals before losing to Port Arthur Lincoln, 64-62, in overtime.
His mother, Camellia Smart, said Mr. Westbrook went on to play at Hill Junior College and Cedar Valley Community College. Mr. Westbrook also returned to Lancaster, where he served as a substitute teacher two years ago.
"I don't know how he did it," Lancaster coach Joe Rushing said. "All that time, I never heard him complain."
Mr. Rushing said the Lancaster basketball team renamed its locker room in Mr. Westbrook's honor and is dedicating its season to him.
Mr. Westbrook is survived by his mother; his father, Frank Smart; brothers Michael Smart, Marcus Smart and Jeff Westbrook; and daughter, Shadarian Johnson, 12.

WESTBROOK, TODD M. Visitation @ Evergreen Friday, January 16,2004 from 1-9p.m. Service Saturday, January 17, 2004 12:30 p.m. at Faithful Missionary Baptist Church, 6255 Bonnie View Rd. Allen Gene Madison's Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home Inc. 6449 S. Houston School Road (214) 376-1500 acethreeinc@aol.com
Published in the Dallas Morning News on 1/16/2004.

Article from 2/1/04 Dallas Morning News - nicely done by Kevin Sherrington:

An extraordinarily short life

Camellia Smart was leafing through her son's papers recently when she came across a medical report that shocked her, as much as anything could these days.
More than two months before Todd Westbrook died Jan. 9 at 33, tests revealed that his cancer had not only come back but had spread from his stomach to his lungs.
This time, the report indicated, there was no hope.
And he never said a word to his mother.
"That'd be just like him," said his former Lancaster high school coach, Joe Rushing. "He wouldn't have wanted to worry her."
He was never much worry as a son or basketball player. Rushing never had a player so humble, so complete, and one of them, Thomas Hill, played on two national championship teams at Duke.
"Todd could do it all, even as a sophomore," Rushing said. "Shoot, slash, handle the ball, rebound, D-up.
"Most guys, no matter how good they are, have something they can't do. Not Todd."
Here's how talented he was: As a sophomore, 6-2 and 177 pounds, he shot 62 percent from the field, phenomenal for a shooting guard.
Made first-team all-district and was Sophomore of the Year. An honor roll student, he was getting letters from UCLA, Stanford, Penn State, Northwestern.
And then early in his junior season, his play fell off. He started getting headaches, and his right eye bulged, so much so that Rushing told him he must seek medical attention.
The diagnosis: A tumor behind his right eye, a rare form of cancer.
Further tests revealed it was malignant. He was 15.
"I felt like I was ready to burst," Camellia said the other day, recalling her reaction, "like somebody had ripped my chest wide open."
As Camellia, a nurse, listened dumbstruck to the prognosis that Todd had no more than a 30 percent chance of survival, the doctor turned and asked if her son understood the gravity of his situation.
"I understand," Todd said, interrupting. "Now what are we going to do?"
Todd took his treatments, and the results were devastating. Lost 25 pounds. Even worse, for all practical purposes he went blind in his right eye.
Came back his senior season and contributed on a state semi- final team, but he was never the same player again.
"You try shooting with one eye closed," Rushing said.
Feel-good story or not, the college letters stopped coming, and Todd's once great promise played out at Hill College and Cedar Valley Community College.
Worked in retail jobs over the years. Lived with his mother. And, for the next 10 years, his cancer went into remission.
His doctors couldn't believe it. One said it could have been his attitude, calling him "one of the most positive patients I have ever treated."
He never complained, his mother said. Never wanted any pity. Even counseled first-time cancer patients.
His outlook: "I'm gonna live each day as if it's my last."
You could say it's a sad story, even unfair: A supremely talented young athlete never gets the chance to realize his potential and dies young.
Todd didn't see it that way. Not that he didn't dream. In a 1988 interview with The News, he said he wanted more than anything to be known as "a pretty good basketball player."
"But maybe my story will help someone somewhere who doesn't have much hope," he added. "Maybe I can be an inspiration, a sign that if you believe, you can overcome anything."
For 18 years, longer than anyone could have imagined, Todd Westbrook inspired all who knew him. His story inspires still.

Hello everyone, wow has it really been almost 20 years?  Where has the time gone.  Well let me tell you what's been happening with me, after high school I went into the army where I was stationed at Ft. Drum New York for awhile.  I left the Army just months before the first Gulf War, after returning to Lancaster I met and fell in love with my late wife (Bobbi). We moved to Des Moines, IA where she was from.  I started school at the university of Iowa, but providing for a wife and buying a house didn't leave much time for school.  We lived there until 2003 when she passed away from cancer.  We never had kids but wanted them very much. I have since moved back to Texas and am now finishing my schooling and am an area supervisor for a fast food restaurant, sorry Shelby I know you don't like McDonalds, but it's a good living.  I am almost through with my master in Business management.  I have been raising my 14 year old nephew now for the last 4 years, and I keep my 2 year old nephew on a regular basis.  I have not meet any new or remarried since my wife died. This is the first computer I have owned and have often wondered what has happened to everyone, please keep in touch.

Donnie

(note from Shelby - you're right - not a fan of McD's - but I guess if you're hungry....haha.  Also, I think I speak for everyone when I say I'm so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine what that must have been like.)

Note from Shelby - First off - thanks - the little girl is doing GREAT!!!  2nd - thanks for the kind words on the site - I wish more people would leave updates, but that's ok - it's here for anyone who wants to read it.  25th reunion is coming sooner than you think!!

Shelby tells me it’s been 7 years since I sent in an update.  If you last saw me at the 10 year reunion, you might recall that I was back in school and unemployed.  I’m happy to report that I am no longer in school and gainfully employed!  It’s progress.  ;-)
I like to celebrate my small successes -- last year I made my first purchase of “grown-up” living room furniture.  If I had a myspace page, I’d post pics.
In the spirit of balanced reporting, at a recent public speaking engagement, my performance was eerily similar to Miss Teen South Carolina better known as the "such as the Iraq" girl.  Good Times.
I’m wrestling with but reckon that I’ll make peace with turning 38 this year.  It helps to know that if you haven’t already beat me to it, you will join me in due time.
If anyone can provide insight on how Shelby managed to con Tonya into marriage and having his baby please do post!
It’s always an option to have a mini-reunion. Say…. Gatorfest 2008.  MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Also, if you or someone you know has information on the “disappearance” of Colleen Terry, please post.  I’ve googled to no avail. To this day, every time I hear John Waite, I think of Colleen.

(Note from Shelby - I invite many from our class to Gatorfest each year - if you've never been or never been invited, let me know)

Hi Shelby - what a great idea! It looks like I'm definitely bringing up the rear in getting on board with everyone. Thank you for taking the time and the effort to keep up with all of us... Hi Everyone!!!

Let's see... after high school, Chris and I went off to SFA, got married, and had a beautiful daughter, Annie. I obtained my CPA certificate and he got his PhD. However, that's about the end of our journey together and we divorced back at the end of 1998.

In the meantime, I've gone on to be a partner in a CPA firm, joined another successful firm in Weatherford (closer to home!), and spend my time going C&W dancing and enjoying Annie's volleyball games (she's now 11 going on 32). I have met the most wonderful man in the world for me and Annie - Frank - and yes there are wedding bells ringing.

Let me hear from you guys... so sorry to hear about the ones that we have lost - Mark, Todd & Scott. So hard to believe....

Looking forward to a 20-year reunion to see everyone face to face!

Me and my babe

Annie

Hello fellow Lancaster Graduates - we now have firm details for a class reunion - our 20th, and we are inviting any class of 89 members who might want to join us as well since we were so close. Here are the details:

Who - Lancaster Class of 1988 - and 1989 if they are interested
What - Class Reunion
When - Sept 13, 2008 - 5:00 PM until we're too tired to handle any more - but probably 1 am.
Where - The Nay Barn in Waxahachie, 1550 Buena Vista Rd (also 1446) - map link is below - very simple to get to - I35 and 1446, go west approx 1/2 mile.
Other details - It'll be $10.00 per person to cover costs, I'll be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers (Sunny's hubby might be helping too), and we should have some sides - if anyone wants to pitch in on this part - let me know (chips, plates, condiments, etc.). Also - it is BYO Drinks.

I do not have everyone's email address, so please forward this on to any class member you think might be interested and please have them send me their email so I'll have it for future announcements/reunions.

Sunny and I might try to get a small meeting together and delegate some responsibilities - if you're interested in participating, please let me know.

I think this should cover it for now - please let us know something by August 15 so we'll have plenty of time to get things taken care of.

Thanks

Hey Shelby! Can't believe it took me so long to find this site! What a fantastic idea! Let's see....I graduated from TAMU in '91 and went on to grad school. I taught 6th grade English in Red Oak for three years--boring! I then went to fly for Southwest Airlines, met my hubby, moved to Phoenix, buried Daddy :(, got married, moved back to Dallas, and started trying to have a baby. After years of infertility, we were finally blessed with twin boys in Sept. of 2001--Stone & Russell. Then less than two years later--a little girl--Sawyer Kennedy--our bonus baby!! We live in Flower Mound and are about to start building a house in Highland Village. Oh, I went back to teaching in '98 and teach reading to dyslexic children--what an awesome job! We are very happy, very busy, and can't wait to see everyone at the reunion in September! Thanks again Shelby--Savanna is just beautiful! Oh, for anyone who is wondering, my mom is doing great! She never remarried after we lost Daddy, but she has a little dog, Murray, and is very happy teaching in Coppell! She sends hugs to everyone! Patti :)

Wow, it has been a long time, I am so sorry to hear about, Mark, Todd, and Scott. It puts life in perspective. I have been married for a little over a year to my wife Michelle and are expecting a little girl in a few weeks. We moved in with my aging mother to care for her so she would not have to go to a nursing home. I am a programmer, gainfully employed with McKesson. I have tried to stay in touch as often as possible but would love to hear from people. Congrats on your baby girl! I will do my best to attend the next reunion, I would love to see everybody.

Note from Shelby - THANKS!!!

I have been married to my lovely wife Tiffany for 12 years. We have two son's Connor (9) and Preston (4). We have lived in Frisco for almost 9 years. I have been the Director of Baseball Operations for The Ballfields at Craig Ranch in McKinney for about a year, but I was the athletic director for the City of Frisco for 6 years. Both boys play sports, but baseball is our life. We spend countless hours at the ballfields, but love every minute of it. I hope everyone is doing well and we look forward to seeing you at the reunion.

As many of you may know after high school Eli and I both went into the Marine Corps. In the Marines I met my current husband. We have 2 children. After over 6 years of deployments and the Persian Gulf War my husband and I both received honorable discharges and started a new life. I completed college and have worked in the advertising industry for almost 15 years. My husband is a police officer and in 2009 we will have tolerated each other for 20 years. We have a son, 16, and a daughter, 11. Between work and the kids we are always busy, but the kids are great. My son is like a taller version of Eli and my daughter is a mini me - with much more style I am told. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion and catching up.

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been so out of touch.  I just found this website today. It's great to see what everyone has been up to. Many of you probably don't remember Kirk (he only went to LHS for one semester) but we've been married for 17 years now and have a 12 year old daughter (Sarah). We've moved around several times and wound up in Spring, TX...it's near Houston.  I really love it here.
