Eucharistic Ministers

“Just as each of us has one body with many members,
and not all the members have the same function,
so too we, though many, are one body in Christ
and individually members of one another.”
(Romans 12:3-4)

Purpose 

Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest during the Mass by helping to distribute Holy Communion to the assembly and taking Holy Communion to the sick or homebound when requested by the pastor. 

Who are Eucharistic Ministers?

St. Paul’s Eucharistic Ministers are men and women who assist the priests and deacons in the distribution of Holy Communion to the assembly during Mass. Selected Eucharistic Ministers take Holy Communion to the sick, or homebound as requested or approved by the Pastor.

What kind of training is required?

Eucharistic Minister’s attend training sessions as well as quarterly meetings. These sessions help each minister become aware of the procedural and spiritual aspects of their service.

 What are the qualifications?

  • Must be in good standing with the Catholic Church

  • Must be sincere in their belief reverence and love of the Eucharist

  • Must have received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Conft rmat ion.

  • Must be sincere Catholics (persons known for their goodness who seriously follow the Christian way of life

  • Must be actively participating in their Catholic faith. (Eucharistic Ministers should set an example to God’s people by practicing their faith.)

  • Be at ease with people and desire to serve all of God’s people in a loving manner

How Do I Become A Eucharistic Minister? 

  1. Read the qualifications outlined to determine if you are ready to enter this ministry.

  2. Pray and ask the Lord to give you discernment in knowing if this is a ministry you’re called to.

The Lord blesses each of us with special gifts so that we can minister to his people. We encourage you to pray and be sensitive to The Holy Spirit. It will guide you so that you may serve where God is calling you: that is where your service will be of the greatest blessing not only to you, but to the body of Christ.
