I found your site very interesting. I have found links to Sir Thomas from my branch of the family tree.
Having come across several Lunsfords or Luncefords in the U.S. who may or may not have been decended from Sir Thomas I always ask if they have found records of any other Lunsfords or Luncefords emigrating to this country, none have so far.
I'm beginning to believe that Sir Thomas and his son may have been the only ones.

Hi, Tim! I always enjoy the site whenever I drop in. Are you absolutely CERTAIN of the id of that photo of John Henry Lunceford? Because I'd swear it was my grandpa, Lewis--looks just as I remember him. If you're sure it's John (and you probably are right) then it just shows how strong the Lunceford family resemblance is! Love the family stories, too--though I'm quite sure Lewis died in 1970, not 1971. Do you want some of my memories of him and facts about him (such as his 2nd marriage, the one you're NOT descended from and I am?)Anyway...good work on the site! I referenced it today to answer some questions my neice had about the family history.
Love, your cousin Becky

I enjoyed the Homestead. My mother, Susan Lunceford Rhodes, is a Lunceford and a direct decendant of Sir Thomas. In fact I have a pedigree chart for the Luncefords that Goes back to 910 A.D. It's pretty interesting and her maternal line goes back to Francis Billington who was on the roles of the Mayflower. If anyone wants info on this branch of the Luncefords, please feel free to comtact me.

I am the daughter of Wallace Bennett Lunceford, born 1886 near The Plains, Va. He was the youngest of 9 children of John Henry Lunceford of Delaplane (John Henry was born in 1846 and served with Mosby in the Civil War.) My father was married 2 times--first marriage to Anne Pearson of Delaplane, Va--she died in 1942; then married Mary Weadon in 1944. I came along in 1949 when my father was 63 years of age. Would love to tie this all together. Obviously, the John Henry who is my grandfather is not the same as the one listed here--but the other names are somewhat familiar and the house in Marshall, VA looks incredibly familiar. If you have any additional information and/or pictures, would love to see them.

I think with in time its self we have not done so much on our family. nowen that it is hard to trace dates and names to the times we as a family sould take pride in who we are and not for get who brought us to this time in life we should take the time as a family to learn who we are where our loved ones came upon i think what has been done is great but the familys with no names should be looked in more so that there part is fully nowen see we need to know who and where the precise of the family to know who and what happened to know what went on at the dates well i want to thank u for taking the time if not for the ones to know who we are then we would never know who we are today thank you for what you have done so far singed laura lea lunceford

Hi everyone... my family and I are researching the Lunceford line up from Margaret Virginia Lunceford through her dad Wallace Bennett and his dad John Henry (of Mosby's Rangers) ... all located in Virginia. It's been great fun reading all the various websites and posts by Luncefords around the country. When we've traced our line back as far as we can, we'll be sure to share what we discover with all of you. Thanks Tim for giving us a place to research and communicate. - Cynthia in Santa Monica.

I am a Lunsford from the Kentucy Lunsfords but through by Grandfather, Green Lunsford we trace all the way back to Sir Thomas Grainger. I have traced us back as far as 1057 and I know we are Saxon's and were invited over into England in the 4th century by the Brits and they brought the Lunsford name with them into England. Would be great if we could find our connection. I know we spell our names differently but I know the different ways that could have come about too. The figuring out how we connect would be a very intereting project.
