Dear Brethren:

The time is getting near to elect our officers for the next Masonic year. This year has been a good one for everyone who has helped in the lodge.

Thanks, David Myers for handling the books and paying the bills on time each month. Also, I would like to thank Billy Campbell for being involved in all the activities that Smithfield Lodge puts on and making sure that the books are kept in order.

Daryle Hester, you did a good job as WM:, you always kept the lodge in order of business. Good Job! David Terrell, thank you for all the things you have done. Especially when you organized the Trestle Board and making sure that the Trestle Board is mailed out on time!

Thanks to everyone I didn't mention that also helped with Smithfield Lodge.

Sincerely,

Rickey Levings SW:

From the Secretary

Brethren,

A new Masonic year has started. The new slate of officers has been installed in due form, and we look forward to a good year. Bro. David Terrell has proven himself to be qualified in the operation of the Lodge. He has attended the Wardens retreats, and knows what it takes to run a Lodge. We, the members, however, need to prove ourselves proficient in attendance. What shall we do? Stay at home on floor school nights, be busy at other things on Degree nights, and miss stated meetings, for fear that we will be asked to serve on some committee or other? This is not fair to our elected and appointed Officers. They need our support. We can make this an outstanding year for David, he deserves our support, let us give it to him.

I wish to express my thanks to Bro. David Myers for his thoughtful remarks about being a team at the installation. It is a pleasure for me not having to worry if the bills will be paid, or if a deposit is made on time, or if any number of details, which the Treasurer is responsible for are being done. What a good feeling it is to be included as a team member.

A great big "THANK YOU" to Bro.'s Harold Webb and T.C. Powell for their great job in installing officers, if you missed it, believe me it was great.

I will leave the close of my article from the last two months in place this month, take heed.

This is a plea to each of you, COME TO LODGE AND SEE WHAT GOOD THINGS ARE HAPPENING THERE. We need you at Lodge on any Tuesday or Thursday night. We meet about 7:00 PM get through by 9:00 PM, and have a good time with our brethren.

Fraternally Yours,

B. R. Campbell, Sec.:

From the Stewards Post:

To All Brethren of Smithfield Lodge #455,

I just wanted to let those brethren that did not get to go to the Masonic Retirement Center tour on May 22, 1999, that you really missed out on a wonderful tour and visit. It was a real experience for myself and the others. If you ever get a chance to go and visit, you will see what Masonry is really all about. The amount of history in this facility (they even have their very own museum) will just overwhelm you. The new Medical and Nursing wings are state of the arts. The visit with the residents was just as enjoyable. Everyone there gets involved with the activities. Our lunch was very good as well. Please try to take the time and go visit when you can. You won't regret it.

Another subject that I would like to touch on, is your involvement in your lodge. We have a lot of new members who need your help and support in their training and degree work. Not to mention the other activities going on. So please come on down and get back involved in your lodge and help out.

On Saturday the 29th of May we had another breakfast session with a real good turn out. These sessions are for discussing problems and trying to improve our Lodge. So if you have any complaints or feel there is a problem with anything, try coming to the next breakfast and air it out.

Well the installation of new officers went quite well on the 24th of June. I would like to pledge my full support to the new Worshipful Master David Terrell and to the Lodge. I hope to full fill my office of Senior Steward to its fullest extents and help out in other areas as well. I am volunteering to help out on the grounds and would like to invite whoever would like to help me out in the endeavor as we need to give the other Brothers who have done this job for so many years a break. Brother Hutcherson is trying to organize another Saturday morning breakfast and cleanup for the inside of the Lodge building. We need your assistance and support. We will get a date to you as soon as possible.
