Rocket Plans Suppliers Tips Rocket Sites Our Fleet The Family |
Hello, hope you enjoy this site. My grandson, Blake, was given an
Estes model rocket starter kit for Christmas. Since then, he and I have been having
a blast (no pun intended). This web site is dedicated to Blake and model rocketry.
Links are provided to really cool rocket web sites, rocket suppliers, and anything
else rocket related in hopes of helping others to forego the extreme amount of research
I went through trying to get back into the hobby. The background is Blake's first self-designed rocket, which is our favorite from a fleet of almost 20 rockets currently in service. The rocket is named the DSAM-D, meaning Desert Surveillance Attack Missile-D powered, playing off of the Surface to Air nomenclature. Besides the two rockets Blake and I designed, the rest of our in-service fleet is of Estes design. We haven't gotten into high power rockets, yet, although we have begun to acquire some kits and other materials and equipment needed to begin. A number of rockets in the fleet were built from "classic" Estes plans downloaded from JimZ Rocket Plans. Jim was very helpful locating suppliers and providing tips and decals. His web site is awesome, as well as Sven Knudson's (see Rocket Sites: Ninfinger); Sven recommended me to Jim's site. Both sites brought back many memories of my past model rocket experiences. PS I don't get paid any advertising revenues for sites I recommend, although I may check into that. |
