Kit #2072_____________Scrambler in flight________Scrambler on pad at NARAM 44

The photos of the Scrambler in flight and on the pad were taken by Bill Gee at NARAM 44. In the background of the launch pad you can see our canopy and, to the left, Cindy and Sean's Blazer which they were so gracious to allow us to use. We had the Blazer loaded up for NARAM. The flight shown was on an Estes E-9. On the pad, it's loaded with an Aerotech E30 which qualified me for 9th place in the E-eggloft altitude event. I was surprised I did that well considering the Scrambler was basically a stock Estes kit, completely finished with decals and much too heavy for a really serious contest model. What the heck, though. We were there for fun. I did modify the kit to upgrade the motor mount for the E engines and used JB Weld to keep it all together. Also, I used a 3-foot elastic shock cord, 1/4 inch, and added about 8 inches of 200# kevlar between the shock cord mount and the shock cord to better absorb the shock from the heavy payload. I also substituted a mylar parachute with kevlar lines after having ripped the stock chute lines on its maiden test flight.
